Yeah all we really know is that his agent seems to have been touting him around, and Man U were interested, but not at the price we are looking for.

Yep, there's a big difference in clubs asking questions about a player that is seemingly wanting out by his agents actions and the possibility of getting a solid PL player for a cut down price and a world class CM that clubs are willing to go into a bidding war for. He's definitely in the first category.

I want to keep Tonali though, he has lots of qualities and I don't want us to need too many incomings on top of what we already need.

I agree, but I also don’t want players who are desperate to get out. It’s unclear how desperate he is but the noise around him and the shopping by his agent suggests he wants out this window

Spurs are not a top club. They've won 2 league titles in their entire history and finished 17th in back to back seasons

Fwiw I think we'll only let him go for close to £100m and I just don't see anyone paying that, but if they do then thats plenty of money for his replacement and more.

Yeah fair, at the same time I think we need to tell some players they have to stay eventually. I don't know what happens in real life football clubs but surely you can't just sell anyone who fancies a change. The club's interests have to factored in too.

I'm over keeping our best players against their will. If they really want to leave then just get the best price possible and reinvest wisely. If we can't compete with the cartel, then we have to at least learn to sell players at peak value and increase our spending options that way.

If he actually wants to go to Spurs take the 100m. I want him to stay and him to want to be here, but if he's willing to try and make that move happen then get the money and reinvest.
