Will echo previous page.

Not too long ago we were sitting here talking about potential title races and wondering what could happen with Isak, Gordon, Bruno and Tonali at the core of this team if a few things broke our way. Now Isak is gone, Gordon has left, and Tonali is being linked away. We’ll rebuild, and that’s part of football, but if I’m honest with myself, I’m sad. This group gave me some of the best memories I’ve ever had supporting Newcastle, and while I’m excited for whatever comes next, the reality is that the team that made us believe again is slowly being broken up by PSR/SCR, transfers, balance sheets, age and time. I’ll get behind the next core just like I always do, but I’m going to miss this group. All of them. Yes even the rat.

Sorry late to the party, can anyone explain why Tonali would sign for a dogshit side like spurs who don’t pay big wages?

They are seemingly throwing that out of the window and going all in on a manager who doesn't stay anywhere long

London is another factor which has to be considered.

You don't think his performances have dipped this season?

I do but it’s mostly on the ball.

I never thought he was as good as some claimed. Never thought he was better than Bruno. He was always loose on the ball.

He was noticeably worse on the ball last season but it wasn’t anything new - just worse. As a unit the midfield has looked disjointed. Tonali isn’t good enough on the ball to hold but also needs better players around him at 8.  I think he’s best playing behind a 10 he can keep passing too.

I don’t think he’s easily replaced at all. cm in a Howe system is difficult.

Agreed. Even the ones I rate less - I’m deeply fond of them because they delivered for me time and again.  Seeing the team being broken up is sad and tbh worse still because I don’t have faith that what’s next will be close to as good.  I’ve even lost a lot of faith in Howe.

Selling 3 of our best players in 14 months hurts.

Oh well. We move.

So, was this leak to Romano and the likes planted because Sandro doesnt actually want to join spurs? Not saying he wants to stay with us that's evident but if your Spurs you have to look at this leak as a bit of a come and get me plea to other teams.

Anyways I'm sure if spurs are serious they will be in a hurry to get it done so let's rinse the cunts and move on.

Definitely! As much as it wouldn't be a great look for us losing him to Spurs, if they're prepared to pay something approaching £100m take the money and run.

Surely we try get someone in before we sell ?

We haven't with Gordon.

Does seem a bit mad though, imagine the quotes when people see we've just received over 150m

Reports in the paper saying Tonali has also been 'offered' to Arsenal and Man U. Not sure if that means by his agent or the club. I also don't know if the paper (the Times in this case) is just rehashing that stuff by Ornstein / Romano so it's all just circular.

So if true, is there any chance this leak came from the club rather than his agent to drive the price up? Could be either, I suppose.

His agent has been offering him to everyone since January.

Doubt we'd be offering him out given we've already sold and he's under long contract.

You could apply this logic to Eddie Howe

In fact, for the entire team, except for Miley. So far, we haven't been able to replace any of the departing players with a quality replacement, even though the goal would be to buy a better player, but at least a player of the same level.

Unless he's privately expressed a desire to leave and we're happy enough with that, for the right fee.

This is also likely the case but we aren't his dog, that's his agent.

We did seem to be offering Gordon to Liverpool a while back. You're likely right but I wonder if, to avoid another Isak, we'd have even given his agent permission to drum up interest. You don't hear any of the same noises from us that he's definitely not for sale, unlike with Isak.

Probably because we knew Isak was bordering on irreplaceable, Tonali not so much.

Don't think we've given his agent permission to do anything. His agent doesn't need it frankly.

Re Gordon, he was offered because of our PSR sotuation, nothing else we didn't want to sell him at that point we felt we had few options.

I think his leadership and authority will be hard to replace. Even his skill set imo but he does have his limitations.

Tonali, Gordon and Isak are big personalities to replace.  At their best they all bring a lot mental quality to the team.   Tonali is authorative and street smart. Gordon can be relentless and aggressive. Isak calm and composed.

On paper Gordon and Tonali are ‘replaceable’ but it’s a challenge imo.  We’ve not signed players as good as them in years.

They should be replaced with players of similar or better ability, and we should also have a quality striker, we'll see what happens. Some people say that 80-100 million would be a good price for Tonali, but when we look for a replacement for him and Gordon and start negotiating, we realize that the money we get for them is not much at all, and there is also the risk of how well a new player will perform. Did we manage to replace Isak? No. Can we replace Gordon? Tonali? No matter what anyone says, these are very good players, and I'm not happy that they left.

Yes, I know Gordon was a different situation. Liverpool were dithering about with a fee anyway.

I'm just not totally sure how passive we are with it when these links come up with players who allegedly want away.

Which is another reason actually Gordon was different, because up until that point it didn't seem like his head had been turned.
