Semenyo has looked brilliant against us when we've played them.

It could be the case of Ryan Taylor Jack colback will Hughes hwang etc but I could be wrong.

Need a creator or two in Jan.

We finished the game with one creator on the pitch. Bruno.

Really poor squad building and I do hope it's addressed sooner rather than later.

Who’s the last technical creative player we were seriously linked with, I’d like to think we were serious about Olise in the summer, but the midfield is crying out for somebody who can make a pass.

Tonali is meant to be that player.

100% this, so many times today we needed to thread the ball or play the right pass. We need a 10/RW hybrid urgently.

The monaco lad maybe the player we need.

He‘s never going to play a creative CM. Just not happening.

Will we ever be able to compete and beat top clubs without one would be my concern then, we were truly awful in final 3rd tonight, this coming quick on the heels of Tuesday nights shower as well.

Yeh agree. We've got the pace monster on one side, now for the flair on the other! Very excited to see our front three of Gordon Isak ???, if it ever actually happens. Barnes to compliment it aswell.

Definitely not interested in any prospects for the role, needs to be a signing that can come in (after half the season on the bench) and have the same impact as Bruno has had on our midfield, but in the attack!

I need some YouTube compilations.

This.

Im a fan of Mbuemo and could see the logic and how his style would fit along with his work ethos.

Then I started to think would we really of advanced the position that much for such a huge fee.

It would’ve took a lot of money to improve the RW marginally with Mbuemo rather than what would feel like a giant leap when we tried at least to tempt Olise for what would’ve been a similar fee.

So without turning my nose up at him I definitely changed my thinking on him. Especially when our budget is so tight.

I've been saying this too. Mbeumo is a really good PL player but the fee would be +£50m and I don't see that as any kind of value and his ceiling is a bit limited IMO. Don't think he's the star player for a top 6-7 club which that fee should get you. Can't see it happening now especially after Mitchell's comments about us overspending on players previously.

Have to admit, I will be pretty pissed if we still go after Guehi and then neglect the blatant limitations on the right hand side

Schar plays better in every department currently.

Like I say though, better and how you play aren't the same. If Guehi plays (in Burn's position until Botman's back imo, with Hall, Burn, Kelly rotating at LB) then we're much more likely to play a high line and it completely changes the way the entire team plays.

Are we comparing Guehi to Schar or Guehi to Burn? If Guehi is in our squad now, I still pick Schar. Not sure Eddie would pick Guehi over Burn currently either.

It's not a comparison, as I keep saying it's not about better or worse, it's about different. Burn is in better form than Guehi, but we can't play a high line because Burn's too slow, without a high line we can't press, without pressing one of our main attacking threats is lost.

Guehi, even in poor form, facilitates that.

I know both Howe and PM prefer dynamic and aggressive players “that can play”. I really do hope we try and prioritise some technical and creative ability. It doesn’t mean that the players will barely be able to move. I’m not convinced that we will though.

Personally I think we need a creative #10 there. Both Bruno and Tonali are very good when it comes to progressive and quick passing through the lines. Having a 10 there in front of them would give us so much more playing depth through the centre without say Isak having to come too deep. It would sort of give us more of a triangle in the middle of the pitch. It most certainly would allow Isak to stay further up and be less isolated. The “10” would also drag defenders with him at times which would give more space for our forward players at times. Too often we lack playing depth through the centre imo as our midfield very often is a bit of a flat line. Not literallly of course, but slightly towards a straight line a bit too often.

I think a 10 would also allow our double pivot to be more ready for defensive transitions where we struggle and leave space for the opposition quite often. As it is now we often have at least two CM’s pushing forward very high and the times we lose the ball there’s a massive channel of space for the opposition to exploit. Having a ten there would mean that we probably wouldn’t have to go as high with too many midfielders. The worst times is when we go forward and no one is taking depth defensively to close out space against potential counters. A creative 10 in the middle would make us less predictable imo and the way to go to get the most out of Isak. It would also drag the oppositions defence out of shape more often which would give space for our pacey wide men and Isak. As I’ve said, I think we are too predictable, especially as we don’t have any genuine creativity from our wide either.

Having said that, I don’t ever see us playing with a #10 under Howe. But at least get a proper creative right sided attacker in who can go more central at times with say Trippier/Tino providing width at times. The last thing we need out there is another slightly too predictable runner.
