Without wanting to sound simplistic or melodramatic, the cartel 6 and their garbage rules won't let us have him which fucking stinks as he would indeed be perfect for us. We're going to have to find the "next" version of a similar player before the grubby cunts find him first.

Can see a lot of players just winding there contracts down as the new norm with most clubs struggling to buy them outright. Clubs will be losing out on  loads of cash if that starts to happen. 

I can see the big clubs struggling the most as they're assets are more valuable. Love if salah and van dijk fucked off without them getting a penny.

Looks like where royally fucked with these new squad cost rules, got a feeling the summer will see us working with a very tight budget as well, unless we make a big sale.

 

We had a serious go and you can’t fault the ambition of signing top players like Isak, Tonali, Bruno and Botman, however looks like our income is so stretched by the wage bill we have little room for manoeuvre.

Quick turnover with Lille losing it. But thought he was in no man’s land for the first.

Maybe the plan is to not sign anyone this window and inform the fans after the window this is the reality unless we move ground then maybe the penny will finally drop with those against the move

I like Cunha as a player but maybe I'm alone in this not sure where he would really fit in

 

He doesn't play on the right, he mostly plays on the left (and even then it's not really as a LW, he's more of a left side 10) and that's not a position we need

 

We don't play with an AM, obviously if Howe was going to change things and have one of the 3 in midfield play as an AM then aye he'd be ideal but there's no indication he's going to do that

 

Give me someone that primarily plays on the right but is capable of playing across the front line (Mbuemo)

Unless there is a deal to be struck early a la Gordon (very unlikely) these January transfer windows will be pointless for here on in a PSR world. Came to terms with us not signing a player well before the window opened.

Cunha is a tremendous player, but as others have pointed out, we don't really play in a way that suits him. And the only position we have where he comes close to fitting in our current system would be on the left, which Gordon has nailed down. 

 

Mbuemo is still the ideal target for me. Though I think we only move for him in the Summer if we get CL.

Cunha is a good player, but not a right winger. If RW wasn't such an obvious position to strengthen as #1 priority maybe it would have been worthy of more discussion.

I don’t understand the Saudi pro league strategy. They pay huge salaries compared to premier league or European clubs so why not wait until the players are free agents and the sign them. There is no need or benefit to sign players like Salah, for a big transfer fee, with a year left on his contract, when they can promise Salah mega buck when his contact expires. Saudis paying transfer fees for soon-to-be free agents makes no financial sense.

Seems like if you get into europe you get punished even more 🤷‍♂️

The reasoning for that is due to alignment with Uefa rules which is fine in principle. The issue is the punishments which do and will continue to differ.

Unless you bedded in massive revenue streams pre-2021, you have the choice of:

 

- Not selling the players who got you into Europe and buying the players you need to compete on 4 fronts and blowing out the ratios

- Not buying any players, not selling your purples but burning them out (aka NUFC 23/24 season)

- Selling your stars to your Cartel 6 rivals to finance / adhere to artificially created rules, weakening you and strengthening them, making it an uphill task to repeat

- Having a stellar academy and using / selling them (cheers Mike Ashley for that glorious act of self sabotage)
