Squad cost has been delayed so the wage issue isn't relevant yet. Also they sold Duran who cost them very little so they are good. 

 

Spurs dont have a PSR issue, they have a cashflow issue, I wouldn't expect a fire sale either way.

 

The FFP/PSR issues are overblown now anyways, Chelsea etc have shown the system can be gamed with ease so to get punished for PSR would require monumental stupidity at this point.

We want absolutely nowt to do with that. This isnt an onfield hot head like Cunha who delivers on the pitch. Rashford has persistently let his side down and shown a lack of willingness to step up to the plate or showing a lack of respect to his clubs.

 

He's got loads of talent but no thanks.

Feel like his attitude has been demonstrated multiple times on the pitch for all to see. @Froggy usually backs their players to the hilt and he can't wait to be rid of him officially.

Average player. Can be hard to play against when he's on a good day due to his pace. But no work ethic and a bad attitude on and off the pitch. 

 

All of the leaks have stopped since he's left and all. It was clearly him and his brother all along. Horrible influence. I'd be shocked if he ever played for us again. 

 

I was devastated by his injury simply because it's going to make it harder to sell him.

I always thought the attitude thing came from when people thought he was getting above his station for trying to feed kids. Like how dare a young lad from Manchester criticise people in power etc.

Bit of both. 
 

He got stick for going to the boxing.  Declan Rice and Watkins were with him - silence.  
 

But if he’s leaking stories to the press and he does often look incredibly lazy - he’s not worth it.

It's all down to form tbh. If he's causing opposition teams problems and scoring goals, no one would bat an eyelid if he kicked a chip butty out of a starving kids hands. Just have to look at how a couple of good games for Villa had many singing his praises again.

 

He's just not doing enough on the pitch to justify massive wages. That's it really.

A new contract for Isak would eat into a chunk of our available spend you would have to think. Not saying it isn't worth it, it's essential we try and tie him down for longer and avoid needing to cash in next summer. But he will move on to more money then we have ever payed for a player if he extends.

 

Edit* in terms of cash available but also the wages to revenue turnover thing you need to comply with for Europe. Which if we want to add more "purples" this summer, must be a tricky balancing act for our recruitment staff.

Doesn't extending a players contract actually work in our favour in terms of PSR? Obviously he would be getting a wage increase though so perhaps the difference is barely anything. But I thought a contract extension spreads out the fee we paid originally over the now longer contract. 

 

Could be wrong about this but when he signed for £63M that was spread across 6 years, so that's £10.5M per year. If we were to extend his contract to 2030 for example that's 8 years total so his PSR value goes down to just over £7.5M per year.

 

Like I said, I could be totally wrong but this is what I thought was the case for PSR calculations when players extended contracts.

That's right - if you extend the contract you also extend the period of amortisation which decreases the amortisation per year.

 

If we gave him an extra £50k/week, that'd cost us £2.6m/year more but as your sums show we could potentially cover that (and then some) with the reduced amortisation costs.

 

Edit - it's the remaining amortisation that is extended so if he's got (for example) £30m left over three years and we extend by another two years then the annual amortisation drops from £10m/year to £6m/year

Yeah this is correct, we'd extend the remaining amortisation over the new contract length or up to 5 years for PSR purposes.  He's currently into the 3rd year of 5 so we've effectively amortised £37.8m of the £63m paid.  Giving him a new 5 year contract would reduce the amortisation from £12.6m/yr to only £5.04m/yr

Well that's even better than I thought originally and it's a no brainer then if we can get that done in the summer.

3rd year of 6, as we bought him before they closed that loophole after Chelsea took the piss.

Hmm, that makes a bit of difference - new 5 year deal would only drop amortisation from £10.5m to £6.3m/yr then, still enough headroom for £50k/week wage improvement though

Well that was just throwing a number out there but let's say its £100k/week - that's +£5.2m/year which is still almost entirely covered by the drop in amortisation @Mag3.14 worked out above
