NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

I cannot imagine the state of this thread had we missed out on Champions League or hadn’t won a trophy.

We have some money to spend. We have some players we could sell, which adds flexibility. We’re in the CL and under no pressure to sell our best players. We’ve been nearly flawless in signing talented players. I’ve never been more relaxed.

The club could have a good PSR sideline selling the solid urea for fertiliser this would create too

Genuinely checked Wikipedia to see what else we could sell the urea for.

Would bring down pitch maintenence costs as well surely.

“Speed is key for us and I have reiterated that many times internally. Speed is key because we have to be dynamic, we have to be ready to conclude things very quickly because good players don’t hang around for long.

“That’s always been my thought and my message on recruitment, because you can have a period when you think you have time – but then you look around quickly and you see that time has elapsed and you missed opportunities you won’t get again.

“That’s what we will be trying, but the reality of that is it’s not always in your hands – but we will do our best to do things early”

Yep, but we've also not bought anyone for the first team for 3 windows. Though that is good as we still managed CL and can no use that to push on

Once we get the Murphy upgrade and pace in defence, Pope will start standing out like a sore thumb even more. Need all 3 badly imo.

I do agree, having a keeper who can play as an extra man will help a lot but if I have to compromise a position this summer it's the one I'll choose.

People talking in the Joao Pedro thread about possibly changing to r 4-2-3-1 might help the amount of running we do and turn us more into a possession based team, but if we don't have a keeper we can rely on to play out for us rather than set up to defend a throw-in in our own half from another shanked kick that's been played back to him, that aspect won't improve much.

I think the Pedro signs and we suddenly go 4231 is for the birds to be frank.

As mentioned, I don't think Bruno is suited to playing in a double pivot, I know he did it in France but this is the premier league, we don't have teams such as Toulouse and Reims knocking about.

On stop of that, such a switch essentially means Joelinton is relegated to the bench, iirc Brazil tried to play him in a double pivot as it wasn't good.

Back to the subject, I do agree a keeper who can play would be massive but if we work on the assumption we can't fill all of our holes this summer this is the one position id likely forego.

A right winger and a centre half is paramount imo, not getting both of these would be a disaster imo. We also need another central midfielder, Relying on Willock and Miley seems like a massive gamble.

There was clearly a rift last summer. It was either Mitchell was wanting certain players and Eddie was blocking it. Or Eddie wanted certain players that Mitchell didn’t agree with.

Now Mitchell is out the way it’s all on Eddie now let’s see if he can deliver. I never get how we are so slow either we have had 4 months at least to line a rw up.

Also if we are still going to be complaining about psr again this summer we will have to bite the bullet and make a sale like everyone else has to. Wouldn’t be a bad thing if we could get 70m for Gordon or Tino if it allowed us to get 2/3 good signings in

We clearly had no money more like it, Guehi was a smokescreen in my view.

You genuinely think we pissed about all that time with Guehi, with no intention of signing him?

Bowen is the one we should go for. Ticks every box and better than mbuemo

0% chance of that. Good player yes, though I suspect he's one of them that would always look better staying put.

He's not long had twins and now married to the daughter of one of their favourite (non-footballing) sons. Add to that he's captain too - he's going nowhere.

Yes, better to say we tried rather than we can't buy anyone.

All our money went on Hall and Osula. The general consensus is that we would have had to sell other players in addition to Anderson, Minteh, Kelly and Almiron had we bought Guehi which would indicate we were skint in terms of PSR. There was also not even a hint of a player coming in January too.

We aren't playing football manager here, we can't just go out and blast the majority of our budget on Bowen like you suggested. He is 29 this year and probably has about two good years left in him. We obviously wanted Mbeumo and Delap but Chelsea and Man United have blown us out the water with wages.

What exactly do you mean that Eddie has to deliver? He's restricted with FFP and we can't just spend and buy whatever we want like our rivals can. We certainly can't pay the wages they can either . He brought us the likes of Tonali, Bruno, Isak and Botman so he has nothing to prove in the transfer market . Why should we have to sell Tino or Gordon which theoretically makes us weaker just so we can buy a few extra players who may or may not improve the squad ?
