Could see us being happy to use the CL £50m for this year's amortised costs, and making a sale next year. Isak maybe signing with a release clause. Though I really hope not
buzza
Can't see us getting both Pedro and Elanga. Pedro more flexible.
Kilcline
While I have my reservations, if we were to get Pedro one of the biggest - if not the biggest - incremental benefit of that is we can potentially better manage Joelinton and basically tell him he's going to play 35 games a season on Beast Mode. Rather that than him playing 35 games in total and being properly on it for 20-25 of those. Edited 6 hours ago by Kilcline Shit at maths
ponsaelius
Pedro massively opens up the potential for 4-2-3-1, something I don't think we have the personnel for at the moment. I think Howe has been desperate for a profile like this for a while. I think he wants a #10, without actually buying a #10. Aye, and if they were to play together and we keep the almost 442 out of possession we've seen at times they can take turns who drops in and who goes long/stays. Be a nightmare for defenders. He’s played Isak as the 10 behind Wilson when Wilson was properly in form in 22/23 season. Can see it.
Kanj
JP is a Tonali level signing imho. Takes us up many many levels.

Solitude20
Just saw some reports that Ter Stegan might end up being a free agent this summer, could this be an opportunity to save some cash for other positions and get him on free? He was great against Portugal a few days ago, and he will be an upgrade on Pope at 33 years old.
ponsaelius
I think the goalkeeper signing is all about future proofing the position. Don't think we'd bother with a stop gap, probably just continue with Pope.
ExiledGeordie
Nickson is pretty good on transfer targets isn’t he in terms of continental options? Hopefully he can unearth some good options.

Sibierski
I’d be delighted with Ter Stegen. GKs can be unique where it can be a position you don’t really play yourself into. You either are good or not. 3 years of Ter Stegen is perfectly fine, step up and club will be in a greater position to sign another top goalkeeper by then (ideally need another GK next summer even when we sign one this summer in truth). christ
What’s the fascination with Thiaw? Keep seeing him mentioned but he’s no where near the level we should be aiming at.
Sibierski
A name linked in past, European, so our fans latch onto them. Chalobah still better IMO.

Wonder if it was made clear to us Cunha was never coming, or if we had interest. The difference between Cunha at 60 and Pedro at 50ish is huge. Obviously Cunha has the possibilty of making 350k eventually at Manure I spose. To consistently compete at the top end we're going to have to have the best scouting and be able to bring in the Pedros, Caceidos Elanga's before they cost 50-70 mil. 60-70 at this stage has to make the team immediately much, much stronger. Think it was a massive failure last summer to focus on Guehi when everyone knew about Milenkovic, he was about as risk free as you could get, and a tough lad, seems great for a dressing room. I'd be interested to see how many CB's nearly, as good or better than Guehi were available/transferred (other than to ESL/PRS problem free clubs for much less last summer. Mazzy
Joao Pedro, Elanga, Guehi and Trafford is an incredibly expensive quartet of players. That's £180M roughly spent right there. Absolutely no way on earth we are doing that in one window. I could see two of those coming in absolutely but not all four. Even selling Willock, Longstaff and Pope (£40M at best between those three) wouldn't cover it, because then we'd need to sign another two CMs anyway.
