I know it’s heresy to discuss an Isak replacement but given our PSR issues, would Isak for £150m for Elanga, Ekitike and Guehi be a decent way to refresh the squad?

I know I deserve a ban for even suggesting it.

Not sure if serious.

Even if we did sell Isak 150m, that would be awful way to piss all that money away again.

Also, I don’t know about anybody, but for me, it feels great to once again have one of the world’s best talents playing for us, that every club in the world would love to have.

Feels like an eternity since that was the case.

If you offer this pair one year you got to accept they will leave. Schar is a starting CB for a team currently 5th, he’s 33, not 43. Krafth is only 30 and has proved he can handle himself in the PL.

Would they sign one year deals?

Schar will know he hasn’t many years left and will want 2 to stay, he could get 3 lower down the PL or abroad I’d guess. Krafth at 30 will be able to get a 3 or 4 year deal elsewhere.

If you want players to stay you also have to consider what they’d accept and what would be available to them elsewhere.

Those others on the list are probably more likely to accept one year, as they have basically no bargaining power

For Schär maybe 2 year deal, but it seems he wants to stay and most likely will not get better money (or a place in a better team) elsewhere. So yea, definitely we want to keep him, but his role will be smaller. We will 100% sign a right sided CB this month or in the summer. I don't think Schär will accept a big pay cut, but a year on and he may be reserve CB just playing 5-10 games/season.

Kraft might get a deal somewhere true, but he is a fringe player at Newcastle, 4-5th choice CB? 3rd choice RB? We are most likely paying him more than he would get from somewhere (anywhere?) else. Yea, he will get more playing time from let's say promoted team or Championship, France, Germany etc, but these are the last bigger pay checks of his career and he has suffered one major knee injury. He can do 2-3 year deal somewhere after playing here for a year. If he wants to play more, then we cannot keep him anyway.

Wilson is a year younger than Schär, and he accepted a 1-year-deal.

I don’t think I’ve seen Tomori actually play since he basically won Milan the tie with that tackle on Almiron.

Why are they prepared to sell? Has he dropped off?

He’s fallen down the pecking order at Milan - I’d sign Kharasov instead - hopefully with Schar about for another year hopefully, you can bed him in and play him when he’s ready (ala Lewis Hall)

I’d sign both and get rid of lascelles

Might be slightly overreacting, but I think we might have another in Tonali.

I don't think that's an over-reaction.

Bruno, Tonali and Isak are all players who could play in any team in the world. That's not to say they'd improve any team in the world, but none of them would look out of place or out of their depth at elite clubs. To have 3 such players is a real boon and a sign of how far we've come and how much we're closing the gap on being described as an elite club ourselves.

Add potentially Botman into the mix too and we're putting ourselves in a great position to compete. And THEN there's the "Already great but still improving" list of Gordon, Hall, Livramento. Genuinely exciting times.

That’s the worse suggestion I’ve came across on here. You’ve managed to make out squad worse

Closer to 60. We paid 45 for Gordon who was way less of a sure thing, albeit younger.

I think Mbuemo would be worth whatever money we bid for Guehi, and I think I speak for us all of us when I say that.

I absolutely wouldn't rule out us going back in for Guehi, for a cheaper price.

Just noticed that DCL is with the same agency than Howe, Hall, Livramento and Barnes. Dunno if that means anything but he seems linked to us in every window, so might be just agent offering him around...

I think it's clear we have a long standing interest in DCL and I know there's plenty dont rate him on here but if we can get him for peanuts now or for free in the summer, I'd back Eddie Howe to make him a very useful back up to Isak.

Don't think DCL would come tbh. Looking for a big contract and to play every game. He'd be a good signing tbh, if he was happy being on the bench and playing cup games, but I can't see him wanting to do that. He'd be better off at Fulham or somewhere like that.
