NUFC Transfer Rumours

The scouting at Brighton was more down to the owners scouting models than Ashworth. Ashworth appears to be more of an administrator than some form of Uber talent scout.

This a million times.

Brentford are similar although less successful. It's the Owner's approach and data company behind it.

I thought Ashworth set up the scouting model at Brighton, but doesn't do any scouting himself?

Brighton are a client of Bloom's company, Starlizard, buying in the data that supports the recruitment programme. Scouts are sent a list of names to watch and compile reports on players who have passed the data tick list, based on factors such as age and match minutes. A traffic light system is used for reports.

I like Kalvin Phillips and think he'd be a good stopgap but if City are genuinely asking for £7 million loan fee plus an obligation to buy for £30-40 million then that is an absolute piss take tbf and we should stay well clear. He's been a total flop for them, had injuries, and is now approaching 29 in the summer. They'd be making a profit FFS at that valuation - which is absurd particularly in the current market vacuum created by FFP.

He's a career reconstruction job and any club that takes him off their hands is doing them a favour. A small loan fee with a reasonable fixed buy option in the summer would be more than fair.

Yeah problem is City are able to bully teams into selling players for below market value because they're such a draw. They're never involved in bidding wars, the player will make it clear they want to move there and the selling team will have no option but to do business at City's price or risk keeping hold of a player who ends up downing tools.

They pretty much have the system gamed at this stage.

Aye, Dan Ashworth isn't a scout. There's a few interviews with him where he describes his job as sitting in the middle of the wheel, each department (scouting, data, first team, womens team etc) being spokes that all report to him.

The ethos has be driven by the football manager for it to work.

Clubs who buy players without the managers buy in are crazy.

Eddie probably says I need this position with these attributes and this mentality. Now you go and do your job.

Love Goncalo Ramos. Think he'd do really well in the Premier League and would suit the way we play too.

PSG are such an embarrassment of a club man. Hope Ramos doesn't get stuck there too long and they mess him up.

Would be looking into whether we could get him in on on loan initially.

Even if they activate his release clause, I can't see Bruno wanting a return to France unless he's offered super stupid money that is impossible to turn down.

Personally think Ramos is made for us, much more conventional striker than Isak so would be a good replacement for Wilson. Isak and Ramos could definitely play together and do so better than Isak and Wilson as Wilson doesn’t have the same pace and movement at this stage

What makes you say that? France is perfect for him imo. Guaranteed trophies, CL every year, gets to live in one of the best cities in the world and knows the language.

Its such an easy option for him.

No it doesn't.

The ethos should come from people likely to be in position 5+ years. Like Ownership and Technical Directors. You then hire managers who will buy into that approach. That's increasingly the model in the Premier League and across Europe.

That's why I think he don't want to play in France. He wants challenge himself and play at the highest level so either England or Spain.
