I disagree - I think the club is so financially secure we don't have to sell our best players and some players are - atm - untouchable - unless someone offers a ridiculous offer.  The club are trying to build a team to compete, we have CL football next season so we need to add quality not sell our best players. And the club/owners know that and Tino falls into that bracket.  The lad was one of our most consistent performers last season and his versatility helped us win a cup and gain CL football. Players like him aren't that easy to replace. Yes Clubs like City sell but only players who tend not to be getting enough games or no longer part of their plans.

You can’t say that the owners think this way, all you can say is you think the owners will be thinking this. Every footballer in the game can be purchased end of. I love Livramento as we all do but fact is they offer up to three times more wages and you have a better chance of winning things and pretty much nailed on CL football every single year.

Would Conor Bradley at Liverpool be realistic.. Id imagine hes frustrated that Trent is leaving and them bringing in Frimpong would reduce his gametime

No thanks. A good RB for two seasons before we potentially bring Shahar through would be ideal. Giving Liverpool a hand out isn’t.

It's not that we wouldn't sell Tino, it's more that we have no reason to sell him now, whatever fee he's commanding now isn't going down any time soon.

To be honest, I'm sure Manchester City's interest is real but given that it's Romano who keeps blabbing about it, it's got more than a whiff of an agent trying to get his client a nice juicy pay rise.

The result from this will be Tino being rewarded a new contract and the reality is that he's probably being massively underpaid considering his huge development. Give it 12 months and Hall will be wanting a new deal too.

Its a special situation this summer with City needing a RB and might be fearful of a transfer ban. Maybe only 1-2 other clubs that would ever consider buying a fullback near the £100m mark.

Everyone one has a price, I accept that.

But he's probably the third most valuable player in the squad for me.

The proceeds from his sale would need to allow Newcastle to simultaneously transact on buying both a replacement left-back and a replacement right back (because that's what he is, and part of why Pep wants him in his smaller squad) as well as leaving Newcastle with a meaningful profit to enable Howe to strengthen the squad.

Otherwise I don't see the logic.

Aye he’s our fist choice RB and second choice LB. Was a minutes monster last season.

We’ll not sell him imo.  Even for PSR we can sell him next June.

Ok that's a fair point but let's say he's itching for a move in 12 months or 2 years, providing he's still got decent time on his deal, the likelihood is that we'd get most of whatever City are offering.

And actually, City aren't offering 100m IMO because I can't see anyway in which we'd reject 100m for him. They clearly value him lower.

I know he's class etc, but noone turns down 100m for a fullback, not even Eddie Howe.

I absolutely want to keep him though.

Yeah i reckon they are lowballing us with 50/60 max.

If they bid 100m he'd be gone.

Well it depends how desperate they get this window.

If they really really want him for the long term future i dont necessarily see £20-30m standing in the way.

Him being homegrown in England is also something they need.

To be fair, City are notorious for walking away from deals because they have their price.

They didn't go near Wirtz when they heard the fee, which is looking like 120m... there's no way they go to 100m for a fullback.

Fullbacks are historically the cheapest position on the pitch. They are signing a class left back for 35m from Wolves, I see no reason why they go even double that for a right back.

From our point of view, we can't replace Tino and use the excess to advance our squad for even 70m IMO.

The only other player I can think of with Prem experience, that offers similar traits as far as one on one defending, ball carrying, strength, speed and athleticism, and that can play both sides at full back, who is similar in age with potential to improve further is Djed Spence.

Spurs would probably ask for £60 million. So Man City should just go over there instead. They can afford him.

Djed Spence has done nothing for Spurs except for his break out 3 months this season, where he promptly then reverted back to the mean. He doesn't even start for them man [emoji38] There's absolutely no comparison.

Don't forget Tonali. I'm sure we'll see contract extensions for those three (maybe Botman too) by next summer.

There's absolutely no point discussing this with you, so I won't waste my time.

You didn't read my post properly, have clearly not paid any attention to Spence when he featured this season, and so you have no idea what you're talking about.

I've paid a lot of attention to Spence - he's had a great breakout season. But he then had a downturn in form again and dropped out the starting 11. To suggest Spurs would ask 60 million for a third choice fullback is insane and suggests that you don't know what you're talking about [emoji38]

The point was that Spurs would be unreasonable to deal with, as they always are as sellers, particularly if Newcastle showed interest, as they wouldn't be in a hurry to do us any kind of favour. Genius.

One extra reason why need to fucking hurry up and sort out the CEO / DoF nonsense. Isak needs a new deal, Tino will want a new deal, Hall as you said too, then there will be others.

It’s not getting players tied down early on that fucks clubs over in future summers.

I think if we're realistic about it then we're going to have to shift a few big names for a few big fees if we're going to catch up. Everyone on here wants to keep on adding to the group and none of us want to see Isak or Tonali move on as we all enjoy watching them play. However, as we're seeing this summer PSR is allowing the clubs we're trying to catch to simply buy their way back into the picture and that's not something we can compete with. We've caught them up on the pitch but we've gone 3 windows without really strengthening and now we have the chance to spend and close the gap we find out the rest of them can match us.

Don't want to lose Tino, I think he's class but IF we did shift him for a monstrous fee of £90m (or whatever, don't think he's worth that but no harm in asking for a number like that if we've accepted it's happening) then we could use every single penny of it and that would turbocharge our ability to get another 5 players of similar level. Spurs did it with Bale and Kane, Liverpool flipped Coutinho, Villa with Grealish, it's not unprecedented. We're getting to the point where our first raft of signings (Pope, Tripps, Burn etc) will also need to be replaced soon, this is on top of the shite that's still clogging the squad up. I'd hate it but we may need to bite the bullet eventually with our favourite players
