Rod, do you not think that’s the positioning of someone who’s dead on their feet, deep into injury time and probably low on confidence given his poor run of form? He looked absolutely shot around the 90 minute mark of normal time before the additional 30, plus he went down with cramp.

Yeah he did look exhausted but it wouldn't have taken a herculean effort to step up another 2 yards.

Sibierski
13 hours ago, SUPERTOON said: Always been a better LB than RB for us. Having quality on LW makes a huge difference. We saw when he moved to RB and Murphy RW, it was back to classic stuff of shit ball retention, which I think does play on his mind because he confidently can’t go forward so plays within himself and sits deep, safety pass inside. Murphy has produced as a direct winger and it’s helped Isak, but it also doesn’t help others.

The College Dropout
Aye I thought he was good for most of 90 minutes. But he was the weakest player in extra time. I thought he was lucky to escape without conceding a penalty. The lead up to that ur goal I think he hesitated causing the pressure. Was he injured? Tiredness looked to contribute. A 22-year old fullback shouldn’t be the most tired player on the pitch. But a lot of factors at play.
Rich
He was very clearly injured/cramping for the entirety of ET, aye.
AyeDubbleYoo
He was limping heavily towards the end, I think we must’ve used all our subs. He basically had to go to CB because he couldn’t run.
Rich
As mentioned above, we had to change the whole shape to accommodate it and Howe referred to it in the post-match presser. The second goal was largely his fault in the build-up and final action but it’s hard to criticise him too much, thought he was good otherwise. Lush Vlad
He was on the overlap basically every attack for the 90 minutes. Not surprised he was cramping and struggling. He must have got through an insane amount of sprints.

I don’t think he’s got enough potential and ability to be a “top” player, he can certainly be a very good one though.
AyeDubbleYoo
Could we have brought him off or not? I assumed we left him on because we had used all our chances to make a sub. We made 5 subs by 86 mins when Isak went off. Edited 10 hours ago by AyeDubbleYoo
Rich
They scrapped the 6th sub in extra-time for some reason, so nah. Was tailor-made for Krafthu. They also had Pedro hobbling about tbf, so it was essentially 9 vs. 9.

He’s not developed as most of us probably hoped he would over the last year or so - but he’s still young.
Rich
He's comfortably better at LB than RB, unfortunately, bit of the Santons about him.

I know this is emerging as the consensus but I want to see him play with some who can invert ahead of him so he can actually use his strengths. Rich
What are his strengths? To me, his main strength looks like it's cutting inside onto his stronger foot so the pitch opens up to him and he can pick a pass then make an overlapping/underlapping run as a decoy. He's never going to be able to do that from the right and he doesn't seem to back himself one-on-one when given the chance to beat a man and hit the byline. His crossing and final ball is a definite weakness currently, too.
Menace
I thought he was one of a few positives yesterday, shame about the goal but was mostly great.

Yeah I think he needs to work on his crossing, I'd say his strengths are definitely his one Vs one defensive ability, as well as ball carrying. Maybe it's a personal preference but fullbacks who cut inside aren't something which excites me, they cut in and then what? He doesn't have the ability to shoot or play a killer ball. A cutback from the byline is something he should be capable of though.
Rich
I know what you mean, but I just don't think it's his game. He's managed 1 goal and 1 assist (2 if we give him yesterday for the penalty win) in 48 matches worth of minutes for us. I've got no issues with his one-on-one defending or tidyness on the ball, but he leaves a load to be desired as an attacking outlet, especially on the right. I hear you and agree, I hoped he would have kicked on further than what he had to be honest. I will cut him some more slack mind, the team hasn't functioned as well as hoped this season hopefully things pick up and we kick on in the summer.
