Delighted with this one. Very high ceiling if we can keep him fit and the purpose of growing a squad is plenty of rotation which will help with managing his injury risk.

If the 4+1 means we can amorotize over 5 years for FFP, I guess that is why they have done that.

You only amortise transfer fee, not wages.

I think signing bonus too.  Which is usually higher than normal on 'free' transfers.

Yeah you’re right. You would amortise all up front costs to the transfer:

Agent fees

Sign on fee

Legal fees

For a free transfer these can easily be between £5M-£10M.

“The 25 year-old’s other common action in possession is a clipped ball into the left channel, often looking for the run in behind of his striker - which is the sort of run in the sort of area where Alexander Isak tends to operate”

Does anyone know how this works when there's an option year? If it's 4 + 1 year club option for example, I'd presume it's amoritised over 4 years until it's confirmed the option's been activated, at which point whatever's left goes over the rest of the contract?

I imagine it will be closer to 5 than 10.

Yes, you’re correct here. It’s just a change in accounting estimate.
