I think we're significantly overpaying because of the clause, but I do find that "instantly adaptable" argument a bit counterintuitive when almost all of our most significant players have come from foreign leagues. When your shelling out that sort of money he needs to be the finished article. He'd be one of the most expensive defenders in the world, that title didn't do Harry Maguire any favours.
