Used to love all the 70's -80's stuff mad mick belted out, Alternative Ulster by SLF has possibly the best intro ever and jake Burns is a huge United fan.

Made a spotify playlist of all the metro tunes somewhere, listening to games on radio from shitholes like vale park was a huge formulative part of being a supporter, they had some bangers on too, Domino dancing, Regret by new order, ecuador by sash and til I come.  Also we wish you well and hocus pocus and sylvia by Focus remain early SJP memories.

Also Water of Tyne, probably the Kathryn Tickell rendition. My dad passed 2 years ago and had that played at his funeral. He was a massive fan and saw all their Wembley triumphs in the 50s so I'll be thinking of him a lot tomorrow.

I'll be a mess playing it but again it's a great tune aside from the personal feelings I have for it.

Fine bunch of lads who were on the cusp of major big time success. I used to blare this out before games:

Echo this.

Worked with Dave McQueen years back, was a really nice chap and had some great stories.

Their cover of Wuthering Heights was amazing. Probably my favourite cover by any band ever.

Another one you can get the volume up to 11 on.

Blaydon Races I guess, but don’t have a go-to version.

despite the cheapness, despite the massively overdone arrangement (the fucking horn arpeggios man, christ), despite the horrible end-of-the-pier keyboard sounds, despite the fact the bloke's a mackem, it can only be

Just for the record Local Hero is the name of the movie. Song is called Going Home.

Always annoys me more that it ever should. Think it’s because I was such a big fan of the movie when it come out and so many of our fans have never even watched it

They're playing the city hall tonight, looks like Jake has timed it right (unless their straight back on the tour bus)

I know they only started in Newcastle rather than being from Newcastle but The Coast is Always Changing by Maximo Park has a really Newcastle feeling about it imo.

I did a playlist of local bands a while ago like, there might be stuff on here you fancy.
