Was a waste of space again today unfortunately. Would probably attribute some blame to him for the goal although again not sure why his main use appears to be defensively

To blame him partially for the goal is nonsense.

Why was Dorgu so free, especially after the ball had been in the air for so long?

Even though Wolte didn't play well today, he shouldn't have been substituted.

It was a one-sided game, with lots of corners and crosses, so I'd leave him on the field at 2 meters tall.

Especially since he's proven he has the composure to score a goal. He has 7 goals in the Premier League.

I would have loved to see Nick together with Wissa.

I feel like we play the wrong wingers with the wrong striker.

Wolte should play with Barnes and Elanga and Wissa with Gordon and Murphy.

Wolte to have the link up to get Barnes and Elanga in behind, Wissa to get onto the end of the build up play of Gordon and Murphy.

Ideally I’d like them both on the pitch at the same time but in the absence of that we need a solution to get the forward line working.

It’s also really strange that whichever wingers play with Wolte, they appear to have an instruction to stay deep and as wide as possible. He ends up isolated with no support or we end up with all 3 attacking players trying to play football on the halfway line.

I also noticed how wide our winger were when he got the ball. Sometimes we gave it to him and he had 0 passing options. We're basically using him with the traditional super wide wingers to focus mostly on crossing, and today that was easy to defend against.

I get what he's trying to do because so much of our midfield's play breaks down in the middle, but when it then inevitably goes wide and is crossed in, he needs to be miles better like. His instinct seems to nearly always be to be there for the cutback. I can't think of a time I've seen him run front post.

He didn’t play well but put him up top or Wissa up top in that set up against a side sat off and they’re feeding off scraps. It’s woeful stuff.

His ineffectiveness is a symptom of how we’re set up and the lack of ingenuity and guile in the players around him rather than it being the ailment itself.

He doesn’t play like someone who has been a 9 for a decade. He doesn’t make the right runs.

Needs to play with Wissa too

I know the team is barely functioning away from home, but its very stop/start with Wolte. One game you think he has cracked the code, and the next we are back to a poor showing.

You're just describing the team there TBH. He's the central striker, he depends more than anyone on the team playing well and clicking with each other.

I know, but I dont think he made himself any favours either today.

The same conversations around Woltemade/Wissa that are being had with the wide players. No matter who starts it’s get the replacement on at half time. This lad already has 7 PL goals, Wissa is just back from injury but apart from his ‘Johnny on the spot’ goal in the LC he hasn’t even looked like scoring yet. Bad times.

I find it hard to give him much criticism when he’s the only playing up top, get no service, and when he does get it has a back line of 5/6 players to contend with.

He needs to play with Wissa, just like when Shesrer needed a Bellamy or even an Ameobi alongside him.

I can't agree that he gets no service like. He gets a lot just from Jacob Murphy alone. I like him a lot but his box work on crosses has room for improvement.

I think he'll be better if we can get to the byline more before crossing - then he'll be coming on to the ball from behind the build up rather than attacking it from behind. Wissa is the opposite. Ironically, Woltemmade scored his going onto it vs Chelsea though.

Apparently we put more crosses in to the box last night than we have in any other game this season. Doesn't mean they all were of good quality but we've all been screaming out for more crosses for Woltemade, but he was no where near any of them.

Woltemade is on 7 from 15 in the PL and had he taken the penalties he'd be on 9 in 15. I honestly don't think Woltemade is our problem, it is more that we don't create for Woltemade.

Our wingers have 10 goal involvements (goals and assists) between them (in the PL):

Barnes: 3

Murphy: 3

Gordon: 3* (2 penalties)

Elanga: 1

My heart tells me to rant further but I won't...(yet... )
