IMO it's just a way to get him in the team a bit while we rely on the tried and tested press to get us through a sticky period. I feel like its to help him see the difference in the speed of the game here vs germany and reinforce how little time he's going to get before he gets the shit kicked out of him, so if he sees something he gets smarter and faster about pressing the advantage. He's getting his shit rocked in midfield but it's paying dividends when he's up front already. If Eddie didn't see a future for him he'd be sitting next to Wissa. Woltemade is filling a hole in the squad, whilst also learning how to play in one of the fastest leagues in the world in the busiest position on the pitch. It is not implausible that Howe is bringing him up to "speed" on the fly, he doesn't have to be "Mr Miyagi" to know how best to build his players.
