At the end of the day if they are gonna splash out many millions of pounds in acquiring the club everything will have been thought out. They will have an idea who they want to run the club. Don't forget there will be other jobs they will want filled too, such as chairman, chief executive and the like, so I'm pretty sure that once it's all official we will have a much better idea of what their plans are

Wouldn't it make sense to have a manager waiting in the wings?  It would be quite a move if they had Hitzfield all lined up to step in as soon as the takeover went through.  They must have been monitoring NUFC and the "campaign" when it was in full swing.

I'm sure they'll know all about the campaign for Hitzfeld, if they don't then they only need visit http://www.hitzfeldforthetoon.com to find out. bluelaugh.gif

Bit of a coincidence that Fat Fred, on hearing about the campaign, laughed it off and claimed it was a secretive betting ring scam, and now the banner of the webby says:

"HITZFELDFORTHETOON.COM  When a thing is funny, search it carefully for a hidden truth."

Someone sold out!

I think you'll find that sites which are not re-registered get picked up because they still attract hits, or should it be Hitz?

I'm sure Freddy would use it to his advantage though if he knew what it was used for now, at least I couldn't find any mention of brothels.   bluebiggrin.gif

Momentum is starting to pick up now, this could be a very important time for the club.

It looks like they want the club before the Jan window, either way, expect activity and if they do get in, expect GR to step aside, they will have no loyalty to a failing manager the fans are sick of.

I like the sound of the plans for around the ground, as a package. I wonder if that will be part of a self supporting club, or just another asset owned by the company? Either way, on a whole it will make NUFC stronger. Plus the added bonus of jobs. But does this mean were getting the Casino bid accepted? Surely a bold statement (if reports are true) to make if we aren't in the running for the super casino.

If nothing comes of it, at least its giving the fans hope of a brighter future than the one forecast right now with the current regime.

Re Northcote...

Look at their webpage : http://www.northcote.co.im/

One postal address, one business address, one e-mail address, one phone number, one fax number and one company registration number.  And nothing else.

Matthias Bolliger is probably an Austrian lad doing work experience for a secretive company in the Isle of Man.

And they own more than 1% of the club.  Maybe it's just me, but I'd prefer to see the club in the hands of FFS and the Halls than unknown people with unknown intentions.

There just getting in on a quick buck.

A takeover looks likely, buy some shares now, and watch them rise when the official bids come in.

Belgravia, Polygon & Freddy all considering bids, when one goes in, other others probably will, and you never know, another bidder maybe just around the corner, either way, share prices will rocket.

(Assuming this is all accurate) The fact that they are making plans for the business of NUFC is extremely heartening.

Many football club management teams have the overly simplistic view that if the club is winning matches the club will survive financially.  This is very wrong, as sponsors and TV rights fees are not increased directly by the club winning games.  Both are increased as the clubs popularity goes up.  Increasing the popularity requires more than just the team to win games.  Whilst winning games is very important it is not everything.

I look to our local football variant here in Australia.  Two of the most financially successful clubs in the league are Essendon and Collingwood.  Essendon has been reasonably successful over the years, but Collingwood has only won one flag (league win) since 1958 (the one being 1990) and has only recently started stringing together some good performances.  However, its off-field business is extremely robust with property and other investments all over Australia.  It has the largest supporter base in the country, which consequently brings them in the biggest sponsorship deals and television rights fees.  All this despite the fact that they stink as an on-field team (or on average have stunk over the past 30 years).

It does sound like Belgravia knows what they are doing.  Stabilise the team, restructure the club for growth, build the off-field investments to provide additional revenue sources and an expanded fanbase, and then once the brand of the club and consequently the business of the club is growing from off-field activities invest monies back in to the team to accelerate that growth.

The gathering pace of this story reflects the fact that if anything is going to happen, it's going to happen soon.

The club is vulnerable to a takeover because Fred has got us into a weak position. Finances in a mess. In clear danger of relegation. Desperately in need of reinforcements come the January transfer window to avert the possible drop, but likely to increase the financial problems by borrowing to fund player purchases and worsen the wages/turnover ratio. And all this the season before a massive hike in revenue from television rights.

Fat Fred has three options. 1) He can leave things pretty much as they are, with maybe a couple of token player purchases, and hope to ride out the season without being relegated. 2) He can do whatever financial shenanigens are needed to change the manager and make some major player purchases, in the hope that this extra effort/expenditure will avert relegation. 3) He can cash in his chips.

If we get relegated it's a disaster however you look at it, but it'll be a much worse disaster for both Fred and the club if he's borrowed heavily in the attempt to stave it off. Either way we'd immediately have to get rid of all the big wage-earners. We'd probably have to start trimming the wage bill even if we managed to survive in the Premiership. Going down, it wouldn't be quite as bad as Leeds but it wouldn't be pretty.

The best we can hope for under Fred is to ride out the storm and then carry on stumbling from crisis to crisis, with more knee-jerk managerial appointments and supposedly crowd-pleasing player purchases. He's taken us as far as he can. I don't think anything less than a major investment in the club is going to stabilise things and move us up to the next level. If that takes building a casino, well, deal me in. Otherwise we're stuck in Fred's vicious circle.

As for selling up, if Fred is going to do it, now is the time. He must know this too. If he doesn't sell out now, he might not be able to sell out at all, and if we get relegated, he's never going to get the price his shares might fetch now. In a financially weak position, his only bargaining counter is time. To make sense, a buy-out needs to happen in time for some activity in the January window – new owners aren't going to be very interested in Championship football either. So Fred will stall in the hope of getting the best possible price at the last possible minute. It's a dangerous game, because if he stalls too much, he might lose the deal altogether.

Interesting times.

Curbs is a cut above Roeder, but not enough imo.

Cant finish a season to save his life.

We need a BIG name.

An article really got to me this morning, Ronaldinho talking about Roy Keane being a manager. Therefore Sunderland are in the thoughts of the worlds greatest player. (i know it means nothing in the greater scale of things) Wonder when the last time he thought about us?

He hasn't had the squad to finish seasons well with Charlton.

We're not going to get a BIG name when we're sitting in 18th in the premiership.

He's had a decent enough squad, but HE has lost it.

He cant motivate enough, i've seen them fall apart season after season, and Curbs has not been able to change it once.

We could get Ranieri right now or even SGE at a high price, but we could get better if the club was bought before the New Year.

Curbishley is being mentioned as a possible new manager, I hope these reports are wrong.

Why? I respect any manager that can stay in a job for 15 odd years...

Without mentioning how badly Charlton have done without him.

Staying in a job for 15 years is no reason for him becoming manager of Newcastle.  The fact that Charlton are doing badly without him is a bit like saying Newcastle are doing badly without Souness, would you want him back?

Dario Gradi has been at Crewe for centuries but I wouldn't want him at Newcastle.

Getting the wrong replacement is the problem for both teams, not the managers who have left the two clubs.

Curbishley would be safe but nothing spectacular, it all depends on where you want the club to go.

personally, if the belgravia group are to pump in lots of cash for players, i think there is a good chance we will see sven here. i cant see them wanting to give glenn all of the money of we are still doing badly and i think they will go for a big name.

i also wouldnt be at all surprised to see a move for beckham.

these guys are looking to raise our profile and to make cash, and becks and sven would certainly raise the profile

Roeder will not be here if they buy the club, who they bring in will depend on who they use as an advisor on the running of the football side of things, I wouldn't be surprised if they appoint somebody with footballing knowledge higher placed than team manager, Keegan wouldn't be out of the question as a director to deliver a strategy to revive the fortunes on the field.
