More profit for the club means more expendable cash for transfers, no?

£35 million didn't do much of that.

That's right because it was all going to be spent in the Summer!

We'll sign a striker in January, probably Maiga and then the rest will be spread out over a few more years IMO.

So if we hadn't sold Carroll we would have fuck all to spend?

Pretty much.

So basically, £35 million get's you nothing as even taking the Carroll fee away from our transfers we've spent peanuts.

How did you get that from what I said?

We'll sign a striker in January and the rest will be earmarked for spending over the next 2 or 3 summers.

So we don't need £8 million.

Depends if you want to spend more or not.

Like I said more profit means more expendable cash for transfers.

It doesn't in the Ashley philosophy like

It means less debt or him having to put less money in.

How much profit was made last season? We spent something like 0.8 million net in the summer. Why not spend some of this expendable cash in the summer in the run up to a new season?

Operating profit. Very quiet on the number after player trading.

Why is everyone so fixated on how bad a red and blue away kit would be?

Go have a look at our 95 away shirt - its damn near enough red and blue and was f***ing lush

Who said anything about an away kit ?

I'm talking home strip.

Just look at FC redbull Salzberg, it can happen

I don't see anything to suggest that at all.

Probably because we haven't made a profit without transfers yet, Mick.

Unless you think Mike Ashley is 'trousering' it all?

So we're lumping the Carroll money in?

As I said to Mick I think a striker will sign in January and the rest will be spread out over a few more years, did people think we would spend £35 million in one summer?

Some people believe they have an intention of selling the stadium naming rights? What kind of company will take up a deal with a club that has Sports Direct logos plastered all over it?

if SD goes on the shirts along with naming rights, billboards and exterior logos then ashley will be getting, what, approx £15m a year free advertising for his main company from this? a good deal for him.

my guess is there'll be one or two scenarios happening now - either the rights have already been sold, or close to being sold, and this has been done to soften the impact of the real announcement at the end of the season, or he's planning to use this as advertising for SD. i wouldnt be particularly joyous with either but id be absolutely furious if it was the latter.

On that philosophy, we'd have spent a canny bit in the Summer (I don't think we were operating with losses of £39m or whatever it was we made).
