Seen loads of clickbait from YouTubers about what we're DEFINITELY DOING. Haven't clicked on any of them.

We are definitely thinking about doing something, somewhere at some point.

It's unlikely that such a S106 contribution would be weighty in relation to the overall cost of any development. They can't be used to 'buy' a permission, they can only be directly relevant and commensurate to the scale of impacts of a development. Replacing an area of and/or restoring the rest of Leazes Park isn't going to be a weighty cost in the context of a new stadium.

I'm sure a financial contribution relating to the nature of the development and its potential impacts could be agreed which could prove attractive to 'decision-makers' at NCC, alongside a Planning Committee full of Mags....

I agree with that, it was that it would be a weighty amount that I was questioning, it would be likely to be pennies in relation to the overall cost of the development.

I think Howe's comments in his presser was spot on to be honest, and sum up a lot of fans view would be to be honest:

I think Eddie's summed it up perfectly tbh, his views match mine. While I understand the fears about moving away from St James, I don't want us to be boxed into becoming a 2nd tier club whose ceiling will become top 6 instead of champions one day.

Emergency committee meeting between Arse, Pool, Manu and the PL incoming. Maybe demand infrastructure spending must be from sustainable green sources e.g. not oil money.

The Mancs can hardly talk - wanting the governemnt to help , not to mention their tax dodging Ratcliffe

That’s one of the reasons why I have been impatient on it. As soon as Man Utd, Liverpool, and PSG sort their grounds out, both the Premier League, and UEFA will change the rules.

However, we can reveal that positive, informal talks with the city’s freemen over the use of Leazes Park seriously brings into play a rebuild behind their current home. It will also need Newcastle City Council on board. Sources say it would be ‘premature’ to call this outcome the favourite, but they did not deny it could emerge as so. Tellingly, one source says: ‘Everyone gets the importance of the location and maintaining that.'

Sounds like it’s a new stadium at Castle Leazes then.

Or it’s Craig Hope talking out of his hoop. Either are possibilities

They still need a majority vote.

I wonder will they look at building a new stadium with about half of it in Leazes Park just behind SJP and half on the footprint of the current stadium with us playing somewhere else for a period of time during construction. Similar to what Spurs did, they could start half of it while we're still in SJP.

What I can’t say is, where is also could we play? Like completely away from the area?

Not sure but probably temporary stands at another ground like Gateshead Stadium or more than likely paying the mackems to use the Stadium of Light for a season or two. I'm sure they've ideas for it anyway because rebuilding SJP in its current footprint was surely looked at as a potential option.

Absolutely no chance we'd be allowed to ship 50k Newcastle fans into Sunderland every other week imo.

If they're building a new stadium surely they'd do it just far enough away from SJP so that they didn't create the "where do we play in the meantime" problem?
