Spurs' stadium move has done wonders for them competitively that's for sure.

It’s kept them in touch with much bigger clubs is the way you have to look at it. They’d been struggling badly to afford modern day players with a 35k stadium without ridiculous ticket prices. Which I’d suggest although we know football isn’t a perfect science wouldn’t have allowed them to reach Europe regularly and occasional Top 4 recently now the rules are in place. With them probably wanting those rules more than anyone.

Thats also with an owner and chairman both interested in money ahead of sporting glory.

Levy took a £3m bonus ours were 2nd bottom of the table taking almost nothing.

Their business model and our owners desire would be a match made in heaven theoretically. As we’d want to spend the maximum allowed to become No.1 whereas Spurs have the lowest players wage to turnover at 42%. Us being perilously high to to the UEFA limit of 70% at around 63%.

Look at their ability to move in the market last few days of the window to address relatively short term issues (injuries) compared to ours.

We are so lucky to have Howe in our predicament.

Realistically the only way to close that gap in the short term, is if our meg billionaire owners put their money into the squad. The rest of the PL know it, and that's why they've gone to such lengths to stop it happening.

Its also from 2023 which doesn't include the Adidas stuff and any other commercial deals we've done since.

Out of interest, would it be possible to build a temporary stadium somewhere on the outskirts of the city while the work on the stadium is happening? And if it is possible where would it be best to be located? As just thinking, last year at the Cricket World Cup in the US, they built a temporary stadium in parkland in New York, which had a capacity of 34000, and cost $25M to set up.

Either the Town Moor, or the Arena site.

That thing had no roof on it, don't think that's likely here.

Acoustics is a bullshit excuse,if you can get 10,000 16-25 year old young uns together they will create the atmos,

The old SJP before any of the stands were built  was fantastic for support mainly because a lot went on the spur of the moment and paid at the turnstyle,

virtually the only ST holders were in the old Milburn stand. It's the 40/50/60/70 year olds who won't sing or create the atmosphere.

Thats where I stand basically and I'm not opposed to leaving SJP. I dont have any faith in the architects or club not producing something that isnt quite ugly and soulless, with all the character that encapsulates the corporate nature of modern football.

From the outside, its even more important than your average stadium as its such a big part of the citys skyline. SJP looks really good from afar.

Bramley Moore looks alright (if a little souless from the inside), but fuck me, imagine this football stadium disguised as a bus terminal dominating the Newcastle skyline.

Perfectly open to examples of modern stadiums that might actually A. Look good and B. Would be feasible though. Maybe im not looking hard enough?

Only "new" (post-2005) stadiums I can recall seeing that I didn't either go :dowie: or :shak: when seeing, but rather :mou:, were these (and even then mostly because they actually had a different approach to stadium design than the copy/paste ones:

And even then, some of these barely make my (subjective) list of interesting stadium designs. This is not me saying any of these are objectively good stadium designs, just that among all the new stadiums of the past 20+ years, these are the few I've at least found somewhat interesting design-wise.

All that said, absolutely nothing will ever better the design of Matlı Stadyumu (🇹🇷). They made their stadium have a crocodile head entrance:

Don't think there's any need to get into the nitty gritty of the debate again. But in a nutshell I'd sooner stay at SJP than see us occupy a bog seat design like Spurs.

We all know where you stand on the issue, there's no need to be an arse about it. There are good reasons to move and there are good reasons to stay; it depends on what you value and not everyone is the same.

I was opposed to moving but have come to the realisation that we have to in order to stand a chance of competing.  Day trippers and corporate seats are where the money is at so they need to up the ante.

Isn’t that the rub though? This demographic of supporters are currently locked out from what it seems like is being said on here?  More seats in a new stadium with only a modest increase in STs creates much more opportunity for non-boomers to attend matches and have themselves a blast and create an atmosphere.

The PL will probably argue we don't have the global fan base and brand to justify it.

Neither do Chelsea, I'd argue I’ve never seen a Spurs top anywhere during my global travels and Arsenal is only really big In West Africa. To be honest the only English clubs with real international reach are Man Utd and Liverpool. Give it another decade of shite and I’d imagine a lot of the plastic international Man Utd fans will happily switch allegiance too

All I see over here are Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham kits. And then some City ones as well obviously.

With all the fantastic, futuristic looking building projects that have sprung up in Saudi over the past few years, I'm hoping we'd go for something a little bit different, maybe with lots of mirrors or such. Then again, with the weather in the UK as unpredictable as it is in the winter months, it'd need to have a nice, flowing, aero-dynamic take, otherwise it'd get battered during storms.

Aye but the first one not only has our existing stands, it also rebuilds a classic Ashley era Gallowgate end outside of it for those who are still locked out.
