Been on a stadium tour today, for my nephew's birthday, which he and we all really enjoyed. Lass who took us around (Lucy) - was really canny. Also found the mural lthat I have my ugly mug on - in the media room on the wall.

The acoustics difference between Anfield and Spurs stadium is so noticeable after back to back games.

 

Takes very little for the noise to reverberate around the Spurs ground.

What’s people’s thoughts on Everton’s stadium, for those who’ve seen the videos and photos from their test game tonight?

 

Personally think it is the best of the new builds so far. Steep stands, no over the top LED adverts, close to the pitch. Much more like it.

 

Wouldn’t want it for us but it’s a big step in the right direction from the small sample we’ve had so far.

The outside looks nice, internally the stands look bland and very much like German stadiums which are just bleachers.

The stands don’t look that steep to be honest.

 

I was actually thinking about creating a wish list for our stadium to be honest.

Do agree with your comments about the inside lacking character. Better than the bowl style but still not tickling my fancy. As I said, the LED adverts at Spurs gave me AIDS of the eyes so that’s a positive for Everton.

I think the stands look steep and close to the pitch, compared to our 52k seats everyone will have a good view and be close to the action.

 

It’s got a unique location and think the overall design is decent, but lacking a wow factor that I’m hoping we get.

 

Around the stadium is the pits though with only 2 grubby bars in the vicinity and it’s a good 40 min walk from City Centre.

Not sure the location is great. Seen a lot of complaints about accessibility for disabled fans and also the nearby train station not being fit for purpose. In true Nexus style their answer to it has been to put some metal fences up.

Looks spot on for the outlay. No frills and designed for football in mind as first priority.

 

Even better the fact the first player to score at it (tonight) was a Liverpool fan playing for Wigan.

So what’s everyone’s wish list?

Here’s mine, assuming we are building on Leazes Park/Castle Leazes with a 70k minimum capacity.

 

The stadium should have a street frontage all the way around. Outside of match-day, I want to be able to see bars and restaurants on the ground floor and be able to go in and interact with it. Places like the Emirates don’t have that aside from the club shop.

 

It needs to have either a fixed or movable roof so that it can host events other than football. The same with the pitch, we need to be able to fold it away and use a different surface for things like concerts etc.

 

The Southern most goal end stand needs to be a single tier as steep and as high as you can possibly get, with rail seating for the ability to stand.

 

It needs to have a unique design. I don’t want a bubble effect wrap or a sort of backlight plastic cladding that Bayerns have. It’s tacky, and over done.

 

It needs to be engineered to maximise crowd noise retention.

 

I’d prefer a halo type scoreboard, single large screens TV’s look a bit dated now.

I’d also rather strip advertisements like Spurs’ stadium than say tacky LED lights on the stairs like the Etihad.

 

We need to have invisible/non-intrusive segregation for away fans that can be easily expanded and decreased without the need of reducing capacity. Think like the walls they have at the Emirates and Spurs. Additionally away fans can’t be in a position where they are either above or below home fans. We don’t need people chucking object at each other.

 

Non-obstructive turnstiles. I don’t want to have to contort my body to enter the stadium. Let me scan my ticket and get in easily enough.

 

Choice of different food and drink outlets, preferably made up of local companies who do well in this area.

 

A large amount of corporate without it getting in the way of regular fans. In addition, some sort of tunnel club that is still affordable for a 1 off for regular fans.

 

A unique feature that indicates that it is our home, similar to how Spurs have the Cockerel. It could even be a modern version of the ‘Newcastle United’ sign.

 

Plenty of lifts/escalators to the upper levels so that we don’t have a repeat of the dreaded level 7 stairs.

 

This one will irritate a few people, but a fucking phones signal. It would still be nice to be able to contact my lass at half time or check the half time scores that I want, and not the predetermined ones the club chooses.

 

Better facilities all round. No need for such long queues for toilets and bars.

 

I’d also add that the club should also buy both the Strawberry, and the Black Bull in order to maximise revenue by owning some of the bars around the stadium in addition to the stadium bars.

wide concourses, steep stands , close to the pitch, great acoustics.

Looks like it maybe up to job from the outside, but once you get in there it’s a bit bland. It’s not the best, but it’s not the worst, but still could have been better.

 

If we are going for best in class, I’d hope that ours blows that away.

The man on there reckons it's close to the stadium but it doesn't look like it to me. Looks about a 15/20 minutes walk depending on how fast you can go. As for the carpark with the fences, looks a bit of a mess that.

Looks like a bigger version of White Hart Lane. Screens in the same place, seat colour and everything. Different to the norm new stadiums yet still samey.

Would be a very bitter pill to fetch up with just a bigger version of that.

Mind you I’m not sure what Goodison was like for fans who live the opposite side of the city, but I assume when you consider how long it’s been there, transport etc would’ve been sound.

Location is shite apparently; nothing around it. No pubs apart from one which I've been told is a shithole. May be wrong but I don't think there's a Merseyrail (Liverpool's far superior version of our metty) station near it either. EDIT: Am wrong on that, Sandhills is round the corner. Still, though. Nowt around it.

There was a video posted earlier where some gadgie is walking from the city centre to the ground and it seems the location is awful.

 

It wouldn’t be anywhere near as bad but I am glad we’re (seemingly) avoiding moving to the arena site.

The two times I've went to Goodison we've drank in Libpewl city centre and got the Merseyrail over to Kirkdale and had another couple in either the Royal Oak or Thomas Frost spewns. Proper working class (or edgy if that's more apt) feel about it with the terraced houses. Shame that it's losing that.

Aye I love it round Goodison. The Wilmslow (IIRC) is the definition of spitting distance form Goodison. Loads other class boozers such as the flat iron a short walk away too.

 

Feels like a proper away day going there. Can see this new ken being like Old Trafford - bit of an industrial estate vibe. Shite.

I do like the roof design it looks quite impressive lit up blue at night and you can see the steel through the glass.

 

It does look bland inside but think it’ll have a decent atmosphere, they’ve got the important aspects like close to pitch, steep stands and a big home end.

 

On our stadium i’d love to see a window so you can view the City from inside the stadium, much like some of these newer US NFL stadiums, but think I’d be quite happy if we ended up with a 70k stadium with an intimate feel like that, where everyone seems on top of the action.
