Stevie
The big club debate, blah, blah, blah 1 Newcastle 50,225 2 Rangers 49,853 3 Sevilla 42,935 4 Werder Bremen 40,782 5 Benfica 36,689 6 Tottenham 35,671 7 PSG 34,667 8 Lens 33,870 9 Leverkusen 22,500 10 Espanyol 21,060 11 Shakhtar 19,625 12 Osasuna 16,307 13 AZ 15,876 14 Celta 14,375 15 Braga 11,699 16 Maccabi 9,000 Rich list 1 Newcastle United 2 Tottenham Hotspur 3 Rangers 4 Benfica and Rangers and Benfica 40% lower than us, no other club even makes it on. UEFA Co-efficients 1 Newcastle 75,950 2 Sevilla 61,006 3 Leverkusen 57,650 4 Benfica 51,533 5 AZ Alkmaar 48,650 6 Werder Bremen 43,960 7 Rangers 43,023 8 Celta Vigo 43,006 9 PSG 41,757 10 Lens 39,757 11 Shakhtar 33,777 12 Espanyol 33,006 13 Osasuna 25,006 14 Tottenham 20,950 15 Maccabi 19,008 16 Braga 17,533 The point is as a club in 2007 we should fear no one, we're the richest, best supported, club left in this competition, as well as having the best European pedigree over the last five years. Ignoring the fact Benfica won a few European Cups in the 60's, going off this evidence we have the biggest stature of all these, and should be looking to win it with confidence. It's not played on paper but avoid Sevilla and we can get to the final.

Dokko
sorry to sound totally thick but what is a Coefficient? :-[ UEFA ranking system. You get points for winning games or even just appearing in Europe, the more points the higher the team is placed. It matters when clubs are drawn at the start of euro campaigns. Its what seeds teams. Jose kicked off when he won the title yet got seeded behind Manu & Liverpool, Liverpool were ahead as they'd been play CL football for the last 4-5 years, chelsea had once or twice. Its also usually counted for over the last 5 years. We've got two years with poor or no co-ef at all.
Cajun
sorry to sound totally thick but what is a Coefficient? :-[ Random points you get in Europe for wins etc.. over the last 5 years. It how they work out the seedings.
gazza ladra
Actually, we've been racking up points over the past couple of seasons and are ranked very highly. This is because we've been in the UEFA Cup and not the Champions League and so are facing clubs from Belgium and the like.
Cajun
Unfortunately our stature wont magic us up a couple more strikers, a more creative midfielder and a solid defence.

Sparks
Since we lost against Partizan 39 games ago in Europe, our record has been really good, all be it against very ordinary opposition for the large part. P W D L 39 28 7 4 Hence the very high coefficient ranking.
Guest
We're probably just behind Sevilla & Werder Bremen. Still hoping we get them in the Semis or whenever with them concentrating on their domestic titles!
Guest
As for our odds, Bet365 is sitting on the fence by putting ourselves & AZ joint 4th favourites at 12/1.
chicago_shearer
Just in terms of the quality of the squad, I don't think we are favourites. Even on our best day, Sevilla & Bremen would give us problems. Just my opinion. But that doesn't mean we can't win it of course.
