All I know is that all the bookies have AZ a CLEAR favorite to win. And as we all know, the bookies never lose...

1-1 is my prediction

We'll score first and sit back.

we did that in lisbon...

We didn't sit back at Lisbon, we got on the plane home at half time because it was job done ;)

I actually ment when we didnt change our formation for two games in a row..

Ha, a cracker of a quote from Roeder.

"We don't fear anything," he added. "I don't see that there is anything to fear. It's a useless emotion - I don't see why human beings suffer from it."

He sounds like Ming the Merciless.

Supprised theres so many people being so negative - Yes we could fuck thinks up and we have done before but we played fantastic last time out and could/should have scored 5/6 times past these...IMO its going to take a woeful performance to go out tonite.

That said iam quite tempted to stick 20 quid on AZ to qualifiy at 4-1 to soften the blow should it happen!

Or General Melchett from Blackadder.  "Naaa-aay sir, there's no room for fear in this army!"  :icon_biggrin:

Part of me is thinking, this game is massive, i cant wait for it to start, im nervous, can we do it, are the boys up for it? Come on, lets win this Uefa Cup...

Then part of me thinks, we'll either screw it up, Lisbon style, or if we win, we'll go out later on anyway. We are NUFC, and NUFC dont win trophies. Can Bramble et al hold firm for 90mins?

Im still up for it, just got this feeling, we arent gonna win the Uefa anyway, we seem to be destined to win nowt.

I'm pretty confident we'll go through, but this being Newcastle we're guaranteed to make it as difficult as bloody possible, so I'm bracing myself for either being 1-0 down early doors and having to withstand a siege of Trojan proportions, or 2-0 down and having to snatch something late on to go through.....

I think the BBC hates N'zogbia.  Has been left out of their squad again this week.  Seems to happen every game we have.

Given

Solano Taylor Bramble Edgar

           Parker  Butt

Dyer         Emre          Duff

                Martins

But if we was to play the same team as thursday I would be happy.

I think you've got it spot on here pretty much what i had in mind. I dislike Bramble and Car so woulden't play them (ever) but realise in regard to Bramble i'm in the minority for this game.

Van Gaal gives AZ a 40% chance of going through to the next round.

He said last game against Newcastle only three players were on their normal form, when everybody is on form we can beat them.

We never lost an european home game, 28 in a row that is, only Ipswich Town has the record (31 games) (and tonight shall not be the first time  :undecided: (I hope))

3. 13 september 1978 AZ - Ipswich Town (Eng) 0-0

4. 17 september 1980 AZ - Red Boys (Lux) 6-0

20. 5 mei 2005 AZ - Sporting Portugal (Por) 3-2

21. 29 september 2005 AZ - Krilia Sov. Samara (Rus) 3-1

22. 24 november 2005 AZ - Middlesbrough (Eng) 0-0

23. 15 december 2005 AZ - Grasshoppers (Zwi) 1-0

The tie is still there to be won or lost for both sides, but as long as we keep it tight and use the threat of pace on the break to keep you from applying constant pressure, we should make it.

May the best team win, but forgive me for not wishing you too much luck. All the best in the Eredivisie though. O0

Oktober

And, no - we won't go through tonight.

That's a real adult post, I guess your Dutch is is good as my English is???  ;)

- Oktober is the dutch word for October, all the months I mentioned are in Dutch, but it wont be that hard to translate for you.

You understand what I mean, I agree with you, you won't continue in the UEFA-Cup.

I think the dutch word is 'dappie' for Morph... Not sure though, Dutch isnt a strong point. It would also apply to you if you were being over-confident about tonight. My money is on a draw. ,

But we don't need to beat you tonight to go through.  Also out of the 28 European home results you posted only 9 of them would be good enough to send you through tonight.  Six of those results were 25 years ago or more..  So really to go through tonight you need to do what you've only done three times in the last 25 years.  Against arguably the best team you've played in that time.  Just thought I'd add some perspective to your stats.
