Guest Darth Toon
£6.9 million loss in 6 months - pretty sure that's not good whichever way you look at it :'(
STM
We will get that straight back off the Owen compo.
Guest Darth Toon
We will get that straight back off the Owen compo. Figures already include £3.3 million insurance money for Owen.....
Syrette
Still persuing more compensation off the FA though aren't we? Still, not good at all.
Guest Darth Toon
Still persuing more compensation off the FA though aren't we? Still, not good at all. Don't think that's going to be much more than the £1million on offer though. With the prospect of no Europe next season, plus having to pay all off Owen's wages next time round, it looks like Glenn might well be disappointed with his summer transfer kitty - can't afford to go splashing out too much on players when the club is shedding more than £1 million every month just standing still. Guest shaun11177
The figures for the season are looking like this Income 90m Owen 3 wages 54 running the club 22 interest 4.5 net transfer spent 8.7 loans repaid 3.6 so basically the club is running even in cash terms(forget profit/loss) that means we havent got any money saved up to spend we will have to spend next seasons money. we should get another 15m in tv money via the new contract so that will be the transfer budget+any sales. Ally
I'm not a big Distin fan, but if theres an opportunity to get him and/or Ben Haim on a free transfer this summer we should be looking at that. Looks like theres not a lot to spend
Incognito
From tonights Chronicle: Toon announce profitMar 30 2007 By Nick Whitten, The Evening Chronicle Newcastle United’s return to European football have boosted the clubs finances. United’s Intertoto Cup success and reaching the last 16 of the UEFA Cup saw revenue for the first six months of the year rise by £2.3m to £45.3m compared to last season. And the club’s interim results for the six months ended December 31, 2006 also show a profit of £3.5m compared to £2.7m last year. Chairman Freddy Shepherd said: “Revenues are up £2.3m on last year, principally due to an increase in the number of matches played in the six month period.”
macbeth
Despite the Chronicles spin .... The bit that is the most depressing is the section which has "liabilities" in it. Ignoring the obvious defence jokes, this is really bad. A year ago for the first time ever the club announced they had a bank overdraft. Up til then the club had always had moneyin the bank to get by with tday to day things. Suddenly last January they told us they had an overdraft of £17.8m, by last July it was down to £5.5m as the season ticket money came in. This time the overdraft is £20.8m, so up £3m on last year. The reason this is particulalrly bad is that last sumer season ticket sales were okay, there have been a lot more rumblings this year and it could well be that they will go into next season starting with an overdraft. In all the short term amount that is owed totals £76.3m. this time last year it was £69.6m The net worth of the whole business was £56m back in 1998 when it was first a PLC, it is now worth just under £7m. By mid summer the club, with its continuing losses of over £1m per month should be worth nothing. If there is someone out there who understands these things I'd love to kow whether this has any sort of legal ramifications.
macbeth
The club included the £3.3m in insurance for Owen as income. If they did not then the loss for the 6 months would have been over £13m, so £2m per month.
Ally
£2m a month?! I presume wages are the biggest drain on the finances - sort it out ffs.
Munkey
just said on 5Live that the loss is around £6 Million.
macbeth
The report contains the wonderful line "The return of Kieron Dyier to the first team has been akin to a new signing ..." So Oliver is doing their financial reports on the side too
macbeth
just said on 5Live that the loss is around £6 Million. It is £6.8m if you don't count having to pay £2.9m in interest to the banks for all the borrowing s they've neede to make
johnnypd
the £3.3m owen money is the "minimum secured amount". does this mean it is the amount we've made from our own insurance deal plus stuff we'd get anyway?

Dokko
I think its time to sell every single player we have and start again. None of them bar Given are worth the money that they are on, they cant work together as a team, and have accepted defeat in their careers to win anything meaningful again, but the money is good. On that note, fuk off leaches.
Zero
Is anyone still dreaming for a few summer signings? I am already not talking about 'big', just 'a few'.
Guest shaun11177
The club is not losing 2m a month or even 1m a month that is absolute bollocks.
Guest shaun11177
The overdraft went up 2.9m compared to the same time last year. So thats 3m over 12 months =250000 a month-that figure includes all player transactions.
Cajun
Ben Haim, Distin, Sidwell, Viduka, Gera (apparently), Tuncay and loan a left back. Signing on fee's obviously and an increase in wages but we will be losing Bramble and Moore off the wage bill hopefully Luque too who will be on a good wage (and hopefully get a decent fee in, still make a big loss though). This football lark is a piece of piss really!

Guest Gemmill
Net cash flow of MINUS £21.5m over 6 months. I guess it doesn't include season ticket sales, but that's still pretty fucking spectacular. £11m of that on financing debt, and £9m net on signings, with other ups and downs accounting for the rest.
