AyeDubbleYoo
Surely Hall knows absolutely zippo about Ashley's intentions, except what he assumes from the media. surely you know zippo about what hall does or does not know? Well I suppose so, I haven't been tapping his phone or anything if that's what you mean. Based on my observation of the club sale situation and common sense about the relationship between Ashley/Hall, I conclude it's likely that he knows nowt. Anyway, surely you know zippo about what I know about how much Hall knows about Ashley? So there.

quayside
I'd be surprised if there isn't gossip about Ashley among the business fraternity in the north east. Newcastle United is a substantial business with an incredibly high profile. And could anyone be totally convinced that Ashley wouldn't sell anyway? The real issues must be whether there is a buyer out there who would match his price and when Ashley thinks its value is at its peak.
dustynrg
Not a player as such but Sunday after the Liverpool game I went to Heighley Gate garden center with the Mrs. I was still wearing my Newcastle shirt just browsing the plants and stuff when I heard someone behind me say 'so how many did we get beat by'. I turned around and it was Sir John Hall. We chatted for a few minutes about the game, I told him Carrol was quiet when he came on and he said, aye he's too laid back that lad. I asked him if he thought Ashley would spend the Carrol money. In his words he answered 'He wants out, he's trying to sell'. I know this isn't new information and we all know this but just thought I would share it on here anyway. Also said the club need stability and sacking Hughton was a big mistake. He seemed a really down to earth bloke, my Mrs though he was somebody I knew and didn't realise it was John Hall until I told her afterwards. Isn't this what Golfmag said when Pardew was appointed? That Pardew was given the job because he owes Llambias casino debts with a remit to maximise sales, keep wages down and get the club in a better financial state so Ashley can sell it? Seeing that Golfmag has been proved right on a few occasions it makes sense to me.
AyeDubbleYoo
I don't doubt that Ashley would sell if someone came in with the right price - but he still needs to at least maintain NUFC's Premier League position to make it attractive to buyers. Clearly reducing costs is part of his plan.

Clearly reducing costs is part of his plan. Working toward a sale and "sell if someone came in with the right price " is a bit different though. If he is planning to sell (which a businessman like him would do, not just hang around hoping a buyer turns up) he won't trash the club - why trash something you want to sell - but he won't be arsed about selling our favourite players like Tiote, Enrique etc as long as we have competent enough, young, cheap players to replace them. It all depends on the time frame he's given Pardew but if decent bids come in for any of our players in the summer don't think for a minute they won't be sold. The quicker the money can be raised the quicker he can be off. Let's face it, he can't be enjoying it anymore, it'll be time for a new toy for him once he sells us. I don't think selling all our good players is in his interests either though, the more successful NUFC is the better it is for him. Anyway, don't want to turn this into another Ashley debate thread, I have no idea what's going on in the bloke's head.
