The Ghanaian international was driving along the Old Kent Road in Southwark, south London, when he was pulled over by police. He was then questioned before being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Media reports suggest Essien was driving a black Range Rover. Scotland Yard confirmed that a 24-year-old man had been arrested and charged with drink-driving after being stopped by officers at approximately 05:10 BST in Southwark. The man has been bailed until July "pending further inquiries", a police spokeswoman added. Essien has been a resident in London since signing for Chelsea in August 2005 for a fee of approximately £24 million. He has been a regular member of Chelsea's first team this season, covering a variety of positions as a result of the injury crises that have struck Stamford Bridge throughout this term. His favoured position is as a holding midfield player but he has covered at full-back and centre-back this year. Essien will miss Chelsea's Champions League semi-final first leg tie against Liverpool on Wednesday through suspension.End of story

I thought Nobby wasn't over the limit in the end? I was pretty sure he was banned. Anyway, my point was, if you're proven to be over the limit that's it. It's a ban.
