Finding a way to keep this lad at the club this summer should be one of the first orders of business for our new manager, be it Big Sam or otherwise.

It's the one real aspect of Roeder's reign that I'll look back on with true disdain, how he's let Zoggy go from our brightest young talent at the club this time last year to a guy who can't get a game for love nor money as the season ends, to the point that he's just an afterthought in most fans minds, one who will be likely sold for a relative pittance in the summer.

You can argue about his alledged attitude problem all you want, but the treatement he has recieved has been appaling. Our best player last season, he gets replaced by a largely past it signing who has played absolutely useless all season only to be given chance after chance in the team while Roeder peddles us some crap about how important it is to look after our young players and not overplay them, while at the same time playing Milner week in week out.

His situation is very similiar to that of Milner last season, who was widely expected to leave and most fans weren't arsed. Only a combination of Doug Ellis and Boro between them managed to contrive to keep him at the club, where he's blossomed this season and is now one of our key players.

We won't get so lucky this summer, teams will want N'Zogbia. Our new manager needs to come in and tell him he's going nowhere.

Good post, If SA can work his magic on Duff and get him playing well again and if Zoggy finds his form of last season i think our left side will be pretty good.

Roeder always said "Zoggy is the future" but he never played him, Even when Duff was injured Roeder would play Milner there or even Emre who is fucking shit on the LW.

I think SA could bring out the best in a lot of our current players just by utilising them correctly and giving them a bit of confidence. Stranger things have happened but Parker may even be told to be a defensive mid fielder next term, and Emre given a more forward role.

I've already e mailed Zoggy and told him I expect him to stay. I kept my side of the bargain. blueyes.gif

I hope he is set to give it another go next season but its hard to tell if he is pissed at Roeder or just the fact we bought Duff. I still think he will jump at the chance to leave if Wenger makes a bid for him, he will see playing for Arsenal as a better stepping stone to playing for France.

To be honest, Zoggy was dropped because his attitude stinks. He got the idea that Arsenal were in for him and his form dropped dramaticly.

He has got a 2nd chance now, lets hope he does not follow Olly Bernards example.

Looked to me like he was dropped because we bought Duff to play in his place, for some reason.

Then his attitude began to stink, and understandably so tbh.

That's absolute bollocks tbh. How did his attitude 'stink' at the end of last season that required us buying a (utterly shit) replacement?

The fact is, he was injured so it was obvious we needed another left winger at the club anyway, for backup at the very least. Anyway, he deserves a good kicking if he thinks he has the divine right to a starting place ahead of Damien Duff, even if Duff has been poor.

Well he could have got his head down and tried to make the position his by putting in a performance when he got the chance. At the end of the day he is young and if you can find a balance between giving a player a decent amount of chances without putting too much pressure on him then it will be beneficial for him and the club. The player has to have the right attitude though.

No he wasn't injured, he only got injured after the season started.

We had Milner who is quite capable of playing on the left, while Dyer or Solano could then take over on the right.

Meanwhile we had 1 defender with potential and a trio of CM's who can't make a good pairing between them.

So a LW was the priority?

I'd say it was more of the case when quality had become available, I think most people at the time said that and I was one of them I won't lie.

By that logic Man U should have sold Ronaldo last summer, considering he wanted out.

And Milner has played more than anyone this season, and he's flourished in it. So I'd say it benefits players to play more rather than 'protecting' them.

Eh? Considering he's won 2 PL titles, I'd say he was better than a 19 year old who's done fuck all.

Despite his injury problems many of us at the time thought we were in for a quality player, that is correct. That was the general feeling at the time for the price he went for.

Obviously perhaps you knew different Shak due to seeing him more for Ireland but most of us weren't judging him on that.

Not particulalrly solid logic.

It'd make John O'Shea one of the best players in the Premiership if it was, but it's not.

Yes but Ronaldo's attitude wasnt poor for his club last season, he wanted to leave because of the goings on in the world cup, and this season he has had a good attitude. Also, although Milner is only a little older than N'Zogbia he has a heck of a lot more experience than N'Zogbia since he has had long spells in teams for Leeds, Villa and us. N'Zogbia has had one good season and seemingly thought he warrented an automatic first team place.

Someone mentioned above as well, but we did need another left sider whether it was Duff or not.

Utter nonsense. This is typical media spin Rodent and his circus started putting out when they realised they had pushed Zoggy too far.

He is one of the best young players in this league and we/the new man should do all to keep him.

I'd rather get rid of Parker or Dyer (gone anyway).

Duff was hardly instrumental in Chelsea's second season.

Neither was Charlie's. Ronaldo's would have been 'poor' this season if they'd bought a replacement and benched him.

cannot remember too many complaints when we bought Duff for £5 million. Most thought it was a cracking signing.  Hopfully Big Sam can get his true potential out of him, and if he does Zoggy would have to settle for a place on the bench, as a Duff on top form is far better than Zoggy.
