madras

Guest justin99.
The next bit gets abit lost.. "At soon 27 years, international Czech would see itself well tasting with the English championship. A wish for the opposed moment: there remain to him still two years of contract in Paris, and the PSG probably has requirements to which Newcastle is not - still? - loan to be subjected. Will the English hesitations start again the heats of Dortmund, which coveted long months during the defender?"
Guest
This bit's a bit concerning mind... "He's a good player Roze, but he clearly lacks aggression. Sure, he's got a good leap, an above-average technique and is good in the air thanks to his height, but he isn't strong enough, and isn't the heart of the defence". I wouldn't say Carvalho was the strongest defender though he just has a great ability to read the game and often take the ball off people long before a crunching tackle was needed. Haven't seen this guy so not comparing, just saying they don't all need to be beasts to be good defenders. Solano is pretty weak but done some fantastic defensive work just knowing what the attacker was going to try and do.

Zola played a few games as a central defender for Chelsea at the end of his time there. What you lack in some areas you can make up for in other I suppose.. Dr Spectrum
Just reading an article about City in the Times, it lead on thru some Barton shite into a bit about Newcastle... Despite the hold-up over Barton, Allardyce remains an active participant in the transfer market, yesterday bidding £2 million for David Rozehnal, the Paris Saint-Germain defender. With discussions between PSG and Borussia Dortmund over the Czech Republic player reaching an impasse, Allardyce has an opportunity to press home his interest in the 26-year-old, although Newcastle are yet to meet the £3.5 million valuation. Newcastle have also made contact with Marseilles regarding Habib Beye, their captain and defender, Allardyce is monitoring Sami Hyypia’s position at Liverpool and remains optimistic that Tal Ben Haim, with whom he worked with at Bolton Wanderers, will reject Chelsea’s advances and choose to decamp to Tyneside on freedom of contract. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premiership/manchester_city/article1923678.ece

Guest justin99.
Apparently from what I've read, he played a fair bit as a defensive midfielder which was he better position. He was then moved to central defence where he produced average performances. He was constantly moved throughout the season (mid to defence), ending with 17 matches as a DM and 34 centre d. With ratings of (however they calculate them) 5.44 as a DM and 5.05 as defender. Roz this is/

gazza ladra
I don't know why people keep mentioning he's been PSG player of the year it's PSG man, look at their league table ffs they managed to finish 15th in the ordinary French league (42 goals against in 38 matches) And they only conceded 42 goals, Toulouse who finished 3rd conceded more. I'd say that's more relevant than how many goals they scored. It's the same at City the defence is solid but the strikers can't hit a barn door so the team is s****. Plus he was in the the French league's team of the year, ergo he's the second best centre back in the league playing for the 15th best club. Yep the smogs conceeded more than us, does that mean we had better centre backs than Woodgate? Yes. Yes it does.
