Think they will let him go before the Parker deal is done?

Aston Villa have made a £7million bid for West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker.

Skysports.com revealed last week that the Hammers captain had asked for a transfer after becoming disillusioned with life at Upton Park.

He claimed he had felt unwanted since January and was looking to leave West Ham to resurrect his career.

The England Under 21 international is thought to be available, as Alan Curbishley is hoping to bring in Scott Parker from Newcastle.

Tottenham and Newcastle were among a number of clubs to be linked with Reo-Coker, but Villa are the first to make an official move.

Martin O'Neill is aiming to strengthen his squad this summer after being promised funds by owner Randy Lerner.

He has tested West Ham's resolve with a substantial offer, although Curbishley may decide to let a bidding war play out.

Sky Sports News also understands that Villa have made an approach for Celtic's Shunsuke Nakamura.

Villa have yet to make a bid but are interested to see whether Celtic could be tempted to part with the Japanese midfielder.

Him and Barton would actually make a good partnership, a poor man's Makalele and Lampard if you like but still more than good enough.

If we are talking a Hobo being hunted by every loan shark in the world.

Shh, shouldnt let West Ham know there is another English Midfielder on the market, they might offer Reo-coker double his wages and give them selves £18m.

Word is the NRC deal will go through on Thursday, though it is all connected, Barton to you, Parker to them, NRC to us.

if it all goes to plan and this all happens cannot wait to see who comes out on top out the three of them, none of them have any excuses really, prem experience, not kids no more and working on the basis of a clean slate.

Reo-Coker has done sh*t all this season for West Ham, 1 goal 1 assist with no outstanding performances. He's no-where near worth 7mil, id say 4 mil tops.

looking at parkers stats would you say he was worth the 7-8.5 being quoted? think alot of comments have been that although he has had a poor season there is an obvious talent there and maybe moving to a new club will be like a new lease of life.

Aston Villa: Summer 2007 Transfer Targets

Cody Strunk

"The main names in the frame appear to be Craig Bellamy and Jermain Defoe, with Preston North End’s David Nugent a possible alternative"

This summer presents Martin O’Neill with his first major opportunity to make some serious inroads into Randy Lerner’s millions, with a quality striker to play off John Carew likely to be his main priority.

The main names in the frame appear to be Craig Bellamy and Jermain Defoe, with Preston North End’s David Nugent a possible alternative. West Ham United’s Marlon Harewood has also been mentioned. When it comes to providing attacking width, Kilmarnock’s Steven Naismith and Michael Kightly of Wolverhampton Wanderers appear to be close to the top of the manager’s wanted list.

In midfield, Lyon’s Swedish international Kim Kallstrom has been linked with several clubs of late, Villa among them. Nigel Reo-Coker has been strongly linked with a move to Villa Park following his transfer request at West Ham although, if the rumours are to be believed (and despite his public denials), he seems to believe that his qualities would be of more use to either Manchester United or Arsenal.

Portsmouth defender Matthew Taylor is widely reported as being a £5 million target, with West Bromwich Albion’s Paul Robinson a possible cheaper option. Portuguese youngster Antunes is another that could fill the left-back role, with the U-21 international seemingly destined for a higher profile club than Pacos Ferreira next term.

Right-back Phil Bardsley seems unlikely to be return to Villa Park from Manchester United on a permanent basis, although O’Neill would appear keen to do business were the opportunity to arise. Charlton Athletic’s Luke Young could be a more achievable target. Another W.B.A, player linked with a move to Villa Park is Paul McShane. The former Manchester United player would provide cover at both right-back and in central defence, so the appeal is obvious.

Craig Gordon was thought to be the subject of O’Neill’s attentions when he took in the Kilmarnock v Hearts SPL game before the end of last season (although the aforementioned Naismith could equally have been under the spotlight), while Celtic’s Artur Boruc is thought to be another goalkeeper under consideration.

When it comes to those who might be leaving the club, there would appear to be little loyalty from O’Neill towards his fellow Northern Irishmen, with Steve Davis and Aaron Hughes both supposedly destined for Fulham. Gavin McCann is said to be interesting several clubs, Sunderland and Wigan Athletic among them. There seems little prospect of Eric Djemba-Djemba pulling on a Villa shirt again and recent speculation suggests that Luke Moore could be on his way to Middlesbrough.

Like being a first-time buyer.

Early vacant possession is availiable for this highly sought after mid-link bungle. No upper chain.

Many unspectacular but good solid players. I think Aston Villa need a right back more thn a central midfielder.

We desperately need a holding midfielder, a right back, and a poacher style goalscorer. Bardsley got sent back to Man United because he's not good enough. Sent back early, in fact, so he won't be our new right back. He was better than Hughes, granted, but that isn't saying a lot.

We need to ship out McCann as soon as possible. That Luke Moore to Boro stuff is absolute fucking rubbish, mind.

He's taken a lot of unfair stick last season. Alright, he wasn't spectacular after the previous season, but look at the basket case of a team he was playing in.
