Anyone believe the Jaroslav Plašil rumours? Attacking midfielder left sounds good to me, put him in front of duff and nzog.

Great news.I have been very impressed with Big Sam's transfer signings so far and I certainly hope it will not be the last.Cant wait for what he still has in his mind for us.

Bet there's no-one in the Premiership with no more assists directly from crosses than James Milner. If there are, it won't be many.

The day you disprespect Milner, is the day you meet your untimely demise  :knuppel2:

Laughing at the fact he contradicted himself there.

How did I contradict myself exactly?

Geremi’s delight at move to ToonJul 3 2007

by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle

NEWCASTLE United new boy Geremi today revealed his delight at clinching a move to St James’ Park after becoming Sam Allardyce’s fourth signing.

The Cameroon international expressed his admiration for Big Sam and admitted he cannot wait to pull on a black-and-white shirt before running out to perform in front of the Toon Army.

The 28-year-old arrives at Newcastle from Chelsea after spending much of his time at Stamford Bridge as a squad player under Jose Mourinho.

But he will be regarded as a first-team regular with United, probably at right-back, leaving the future roles of Stephen Carr and Nobby Solano up for debate.

The African was not on United’s 9am flight to Graz this morning for their summer “boot camp” in Austria because he has been granted extra time to put his feet up after starring for Cameroon only last month against Liberia and Rwanda to help clinch his country’s place in the African Cup of Nations next January.

However, he could not contain his joy after clinching a move to Tyneside.

He told the Chronicle: “I am delighted to join Newcastle and I am very, very pleased with this move.

“This, like Chelsea, is a big club and a great football club.

“They have passionate fans and I look forward to playing for them.

“I was impressed with Sam Allardyce too.

“I was impressed with what he has done in football and his knowledge of other teams and players.

“It’s a great move for me.”

The only only down side to Geremi’s arrival is the fact that United will be without his services for up to SIX crunch games in January.

For the Cameroon star is ready to lead his country in the African Cup of Nations.

The tournament begins in Ghana on January 20, and if Cameroon go all the way, Geremi could be missing until February 10, the day of the final.

Allardyce is also facing up to the prospect of losing Oba Martins for  the same period, with Nigeria also having booked their place at the finals.

But, like Geremi, Martins will be keen to play in the African Cup of Nations, and that means the pair are set to miss crunch fixtures in the Premiership and the FA Cup.

And, worse still for United, their African duo will be expected to report for training with their respective national sides a fortnight before the tournament kicks off.

Therefore, Allardyce will be without two of his key players for the trip to Manchester United on January 12, the home clash with his old club Bolton a week later and then a crucial trip to the Emirates  to take on Arsenal, as well as any potential FA Cup fourth-round tie.

And with both Nigeria and Cameroon expected to challenge for the trophy, there is every chance that they will also miss the home game with Middlesbrough on February 2 and  the trip to Villa seven days later.

Get in! Finally got a isp email address. No longer do I have to read every thread on here without being able to reply. Anyway, Hello All. I'm really pleased with this signing. Especially with it being on a Bosman. I'd like us to maybe make one 'World Class Signing' though, which is being talked about in another thread, probably a centre back. But then maybe Im taking the whole Allardyce, Ashley make over for granted already. The signings have been quality. Under Roeder they'd probably be seen as amazing because of how incompetent he was. Under Allardyce we should be maybe looking at the next step up IMO

also assumes that oba will go back and play for nigeria again after being shot at last month. i think he will, but its far from a certainty.

Nigeria is now dangerous for Oba, but I believe that tournament is is Ghana.

Duff should be back fit before then too may come in useful if Oba does go.  Hopefully Zoggy's form may pick up (alot) before then too. Heaven forbid maybe even Luque (although i won't be holding my breath).

Dyer,  Nobby or a more defensive player to cover for Geremi.

Boils my piss that they play the ACN in February. Obviously playing it in the summer is gonna be tricky with the weather, but still.

Perhaps they could play deep in the middle of the night, 2AM kick-offs. Hand out free pills and play techno music during the games to keep the crowd awake, would add some spice to the tournament at least.

I guess you missed the police report stating he was at his mothers house, and it was only his car and driver not he himself?
