I'm not happy at the prospect of a former NUFC youth player scoring against us for the mackems

and i'm doubly not happy at not being able to hate him for it too, as he has every right to f*** this club over

Another royal serving of Vic sh*t. Can't blame the club for Chopra not being as good as Ameobi.

I hope he goes the way of their last two former NUFC youth signings off us - one refused to play for them against us, and instead went and wore an SMB t-shirt, the other scored an own goal for us in the Derby. Nice.

so what...how many games did he get compared to mpaul brayson, jamie coppinger etc?

fact is none of the managers here thought he was good enough to have more of a chance and when he did play few of the fans thought he deserved more of a chance.

that's debatable. but I guess the history re-writing will begin, as it always does at this club

Because he wasn't as good.

If Chopra was as good or better than Ameobi, you would have thought one of Robson, Souness or Roeder would have agreed. Chopra was to Ameobi, what Ramage is to Taylor.

Remember the League Cup game with Everton in 2002-3 season where the club advertised it as the "Chopra v Rooney" match?

Oh dear.

BBC are reporting they've had a £5 million offer for Craig Gordon of Hearts turned down.

Good. Gordon is way too good for Sunderland. Reminds me a lot of Given.

I'm pissing myself at the thread entitled "Ever been embarrassed to be a Sunderland fan?" before I've even opened it!!!!

;D Followed closely by "sick to the pit of my stomach over Chopra signing"

http://www.readytogo.net/smb/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=66

They've even got their own Leazes/HTL:

"TBH mate if youre sick as a dog over paying £5m for perhaps the best striker outside the top flight then its just as well you werent around in the mid 80's."

:D

Robson rated the kid, although it's understandable why he never got a game then

as for taking sides with the opinions of Souness and Roeder? no thanks

Ameobi p*sses on Chopra as a footballer. Ameobi would be a 12 goal a season striker easily if he had a season at first-choice (when you think he generally gets 6-9 goals a season as back-up). I'd tip Ameobi to easily score 25 in the Championship.

£5 mill would ordinarily be WAY too much, but considering I think we've got a 25% sell on wedge comming, it's a great and fair price  :D

Didn't Chopra simply leave Newcastle when his contract expired?

==>No transfer between Newcastle and Cardiff

==>No sell-on provisions?

well Chopra has scored 22, excuse me while I don't take your belief as fact

i can't believe he agreed to join them

i can't believe they paid 5 mil for him

fkin hell

He hasn't agreed yet, but he will. If he was going to turn them down on the fact that he's a Geordie he wouldn't have travelled there for talks.

"The club say Chopra, 22, has passed a medical and signed and that a £500,000 fee has been agreed, but that one small detail has to be sorted with Newcastle."

Probably the sell on clause.

Even back end of the 2005-6 season when Shearer was f*cked, we played Ameobi & Chopra up front as a pairing. Chopra's contribution was a jammy goal against the worst team in Premiership history, Ameobi was the main goal-getter getting us into 7th spot.

Guest optimistic nit

i'm actually embarrassed that clubs in the premierleague, a supposedly great league, have paid a combined total of 16.3million for Kamara, Koumas and Chopra. it sickens me.
