Guest hindu times
Caught a glimpse of the back page of the Chronicle, and "Heinze on the menu for toon" is the headline. No doubt the article will also contain several "wide of the mark" quotes with regards to Deco, Eto'o and Raul.

It’s no secret that Sam Allardyce is desperate to strengthen his defence and the left-back area a real cause for concern with the Premiership campaign now just a month away. And with Heinze thought to be disgruntled at Old Trafford, due to his battle for the left-back position with Senegal-born French international ace Patrice Evra, the South American is believed to be open-minded about his future. The 29-year-old has been in action for Argentina in the Copa America and helped them into the competition’s last four last night with a 4-0 win over Peru in Venezuela. Story continues Continue story ADVERTISEMENT Heinze is set to face the music about his future when he returns to England after the tournament, but he is unlikely to settle for a place as second-choice left-back at Man United. The Red Devils’ North West rivals Liverpool are keen to sign Heinze, with the Argentinian likely to command a fee of around £4m. And even though Heinze is under contract at Man United, he is ready to invoke a FIFA ruling which allows him to buy himself out of his contract and reduce his own transfer fee should the need arise. However, with Real Madrid, AC Milan and Barcelona also in the hunt for Heinze, Newcastle would face stiff competition to win the player’s signature. Yet with Liverpool and Man United not having done business in the transfer market for 43 years now, it is unlikely that his destination will be Anfield come the end of the current transfer window. Sir Alex Ferguson was said to have reacted with “horror” to the prospect of Heinze quitting Man U for Merseyside, and it is a safe bet that the legendary manager would do everything he can to stop him going to Liverpool. And even though Allardyce would have a tough fight on his hand with the likes of Real and Barca is he is to lure Heinze to Gallowgate, his track record in attracting top- notch players at Bolton would put him in good stead, not to mention his superb relationship with Man U boss Ferguson. Fergie had promised Big Sam a “hug and a kiss, maybe two kisses” after the 2-2 draw with Chelsea handed the title to the Red Devils in his last act as Bolton boss towards the end of last season but the Old Trafford manager may be ready to play ball and take any approach seriously from Newcastle, having already loaned Seppe Rossi to the Magpies last term. Heinze signed for Man U from Paris St Germain back in 2004 for £6.9m, and despite tumbling down the pecking order at Old Trafford he became a popular figure for Fergie’s side until Evra’s arrival last year. And the uncertainty of his future was confirmed when he uttered the names of some of Europe’s top clubs this month, saying: “I already play for one super club and other ones such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus have been mentioned. “For me to go, the offer has to be good for everyone.”
Guest DazzaNufc1892
spoke to fletcher othe night and he seemed to think nobody from the backline will be leaving now, this is because the bid for bale never materialised
Guest David Kelly
I would be extremely happy if we signed Heinze. Top quality player.

James
Naturally, he'd be part of a centre-back trio, with a younger fitter and more versatile left back also being brought in to play at left wing back.
KaKa
More likely to sign Silvestre to be honest. Sigh ...

Guest Verlaine
That article is ridiculously speculative. Just filling column inches. He may aswell have written "I think we should sign Heinze, but I haven't got a clue if we're going to". Spot on.

ohmelads
The local rags have been fairly spot on this summer. He won't go to Barca, they've bought Abidal and are close to signing Milito and that'll be their defence sorted. Juventus just bought Andrade. Real Madrid are a possibility but they've been chasing Chivu. If we can sign Deco (which is looking possible) it'll be a major statement of intent and may be enough to persuade Heinze we're really going places. At £4M he'd be a superb signing, our defence needs someone like him.
Guest Guinness
Not a very convincing article but I'd love to see Heinze here.

Norwegian-Geordie
More likely to sign Silvestre to be honest. Sigh ... Not that I want Silvestre here or anything, but I have got a mate who supports ManU. He said that Silvestre wasn't on their team picture. So he is sure to leave them. Yorkie
£4m would be a superb deal. Can imagine he'll either stay at United, or go back into Europe though.

marko1892
Well I can't see him going to Liverpool to be honest. Although I also cannot see him coming to us not when there will be more lucrative offers on the table.
Jimburst
Heinze is top quality, and would be a great addition to any defence...I hope he chooses here! We really need a solid defence this next season, I know our attack should be excellent but you always need a good defence to fall back on. We need it to progress.
