Newcastle's Youth & Reserve Players...

Recommended Posts

So... what does everyone think of the players we have coming through the ranks? Just add some names and your comments.  Curious to see what opinions people have.

Here's a couple of my thoughts...

Andrew Carroll

Looked good when he's played, especially given his age and lack of experience.  Strong player who I can see filling out and being a big centre forward, good in the air and  calm on the ball.  Promising talent, hope he matures well and develops in to a quality player.

Matty Pattison

Never really liked Pattison.  Feel for the lad, as he must be doing something right for the club to keep giving him chances, but he seems to never look sharp enough or quick enough to handle the EPL when I've watched him.  Looses the ball easily and misplaces passes.  Feel like this lad needs to be moved on to a lower league.

Peter Ramage

Showed that he can keep calm and defend well for 90 minutes at centre back on occasions, but is a poor full back.  Don't believe he has enough ability to hold it in the Premiership.  Would like to see him do well, but at 23 I'd expect to see something closer to the finished article.  Just sadly not good enough.

James Troisi

Not seen a lot on this lad, but the bits I have seen he's looked fast with quick feet.  Good ability and confidence on the ball, seems to have a few tricks up his sleave.  Think he could be a decent winger or forward, still unclear what he's best at.  Just hope he beefs up a bit to cope with the physical demands.

matty pattison is horrifically untalented. i think he won his contract in a corn flakes competition.

Troisi needs a haircut, Pattison needs someone like Barnet to buy him, Carroll needs pace, Ramage needs to f*** off.

What rubbish!

Carroll has no pace which is a bit of a worry.

Pattison and Ramage are Championship players.

Troisi looked very lightweight.

Kazenga looked by far the best prospect.

I may be wrong here but I think Pattison was regarded as a very good prospect until he was out for two years with cruciate problems. Someone else may be able to elaborate.

The next Gazza I remember.

Troisi is a gun. He will step up this season

How is he a gun? How can a person be a gun? Does he eject projectiles at high velocity with the aim of maiming or killing? Am I old and stupid and this is some new cool terminology?

From what I have seen in the premiership and this season's friendlies I would say Troisi, Lualua, Carroll. Edgar and Huntingdon look like they could make the step up eventually. Pattison and Ramage need to go. Would like to see more of some of the younger lads(so may take the kids to the reserve games, with their junior magpies card thingy).

Edgar i really like the look of and i can't understand why we do not see more of him.

Carroll  looks like he has a bright future as does lua lua.

Troisi i need to see more of, there is some potential.

Hunty is lacking at the moment but could get better with training/time.

Ramage does have some good games sometimes and then he has some poor games, he needs consistancy.

Pattison i just can't see him making the grade at all.
