Just sitting here, wondering.. why are we even allowed to compete in the same division as the LEGENDARY LIVERPOOL. Evidently they're so far ahead of us, we might as well stay stay home on the 1st of May..

yeah, Kevin.. NOBODY can reject the GLORIOUS KOP, KING KENNY and THE BEST FANS OF THE WORLD.. Doesn't matter if they sing only at the beginning and endings of the games.. after all the spirit of Shankly channels through each and every one of the scouse fuckers.

Good luck Jose, enjoy the silence!

We can compete with them, the point is that we've proved we're unwilling to try.

This is it, like.

If he won't sign a new contract you have to take the money for him.Not even elementary science.

You dont have to. Say no to him, he's got a year left - get another season out of him and in the meantime buy some players in the summer, show ambition, push on next season and he might change his mind at the end if he see's progress.

They won't do that though.

A potential fee which would double what we paid for him, a ready made excuse of him wanting out/not signing a new contract and a big wage off the books.

That's an Ashley wet dream.

There's not a player in the side he won't listen to offers for. Get used to it.

I'd go along with this.

Was watching the Villa home game last night, and it reminded me of how great he used to be and the stark difference between that and now.

It'd be great if we could get him back in love with this club again.

Say no to him and then you have a disgruntled player who doesn't want to be there and you're still paying his wages and you're also losing x million pounds fee.Mentalists advocating we hold him here against his will.

How could Liverpool have agreed a deal for him? He is not allowed to talk to any other clubs as he still has over a year to run on his contract. If Newcastle have allowed him to talk to Liverpool that's different. If they haven't, report Liverpool for tapping up our player.

The only way we will be able to compete with them in the battle of keeping/buying experienced pl-players is through paying similar wages. We have shown before that this is not exactly a sound strategy for success. The best way for us to beat them is through buying smarter and cheaper.

As I've said, many sees the sale of Enrique as an automatic loss for the club. We're selling a good player to one of our competitors. But it's not certain that Enrique will play well in Lpool. He will be put under much more pressure. Also, we should  not underestimate Jonas' contribution defensively. It's not certain that Enrique will get the similar support in Lpool. Lastly, we must remember that Lpool is paying us money which we can use to our advantage. We'll only miss Enrique as long as we fail to buy a good replacement.  You're acting like the club is doomed when it comes to finding a good replacement.

£15m for Enrique in his final year of contract is crazy money. The club will have done well to get that kind of money, under a 3-4 year contract however it would be a fair offer, a fair offer I'd hope the club would reject. Without him signing on there is no way we can turn down that kind of money. Plus I don't think he's been up to much since Carroll left and his heart isn't in it as it once was.

We could get two very good continental LBs for that and not have to worry about the position for the next 5 years. Of course there is no  sure bet in football, we could buy the wrong type of replacement, they might not settle or find the pace difficult and it's these reasons Liverpool want a proven premiership lb to slot right in, but if we play our cards right we could have two of them after a season of settling in like Enrique in his first season.

In all honesty I can see him leaving for a lot less than that figure and it will be then people will really start crying.

Its more to do with the club selling it's best players, rather than building a team around them. We should be looking to keep the likes of Enrique rather than listen to offers from the likes of Liverpool. It also means that we now have to go out and find a replacement, which will take up time and effort that should be given to finding new forwards and decent squad players.

its a rare club indeed that wouldn't sell a player when they're contracts up a year from now and they weren't interested in signing a new deal
