Thespence
Jose was never re-signing once AC went the club gained a lot of dosh that day but it looked like it lost a lot ambition as far as some players & fans were concerned imo.

Yet he tweeted at the time, he didn't care AC was gone. hmmm who should I believe. Footballer in last year of contract manouvers for biggest wad, there's a surprise. He did an interview within days saying that the club had broken their promises and that Andy Carroll was a key player.

Wullie
He's right though... Yes, the situations are almost identical. Please tell me who these star local players are that Man Utd and Liverpool have sold.
Guest
Liverpool and Man Utd sell players for crazy money to the clubs in the tier above or around them. We sold our player for crazy money to a club in the tier above or around us.

Please tell me who these star local players are that Man Utd and Liverpool have sold. Come on man there's a huge difference. Liverpool have been top 4 or thereabouts Gerrard's, Carragher's, etc. whole careers, Man Utd have been there the whole time so no reason to leave. We've finished top 5 three times in about 13 seasons. Tell me what makes you think players from here won't see moves to bigger clubs an attraction. Wullie
The Dog and Duck sold Joe Bloggs to the Hare and Hounds for £30 and a keg of lager, they're practically Man Utd's sister club in that case. You sound absolutely fucking ridiculous with this nonsense, it does you no favours.

So in 20 years Man Utd have never had one offer for Giggs or Scholes and Liverpool have never had one for Gerrard or Carragher? Who cares what the players want exactly? An offer comes in, you reject it, end of story.

Guest
Eh? All clubs sell players so all clubs have the same ambition, isn't that the point you were making? No the exact opposite. We are nowhere near having the same ambitions as Man Utd & Liverpool at the moment, which is why when a bigger club comes in a) the player's head will be turned and b) if mental money is offered the club will always consider it. And the same applies to Villa, Everton, Spurs, etc.

They should sell their good players, or at least make them take hefty pay cuts. Get relegated too if possible. Ambition. You seem more than happy to accept what we are at the moment. Why is that? I'm not interested in being an also-ran and much bigger attendances than all of the above say we shouldn't be.

Liverpool have been in or around the top 4 and the Champions League places since 1996 bar the odd blip, not to mention the 20 odd years before that, as well as winning cups. We've finished there about 6 years out of 20 and had the occasional Final or Semi Final. Spot the difference.

Severely flawed potential at that

Liverpool aren't going to be buying players by showing the other club some 80s Cup Final DVDs. We can afford to punch our weight with Liverpool, like we have before.
