Munkey
was fairly brief, but came across well. mid- to long term plan with the club. all talk of a split between Allardyce and him is bollox, they speak regularly to talk about what's going on and what to do..came across fairly positive. Dave
Nothing new really. Yup, but still nice to hear him talk about setting the foundations for the future. Something we've been sorely missing in my view.
geordie_b
I only caught the end of it, what did he say about West Ham and Dyer?
Dave
I only caught the end of it, what did he say about West Ham and Dyer? We 'weren't comfortable' with the way West Ham were dealing with negotiations.

Be more interesting to see if it gets a response from them though
Guest SpinTheBlackCircle
Mort told BBC Radio Five Live: "Sam and I speak most days, if not every day. "This afternoon we sat down together for an hour or two and went through the squad and players we are looking to add. "That work is continuing and we will carry on going forward. "Our relationship is absolutely fine, we get on very well together." Newcastle recently saw negotiations with West Ham over the sale of England midfielder Kieron Dyer break down. The Magpies initially accepted a bid of £6million but later increased the asking price after feeling the player had been undervalued. Mort added: "We got very uncomfortable with the way they were conducting negotiations and some of the things going on about the deal we wanted to change from our perspective. "They were (then) not prepared to match the valuation we put on him."
Nicky
*edit* Beaten to it. http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1780_2649743,00.html Interesting that they sat down for an hour or 2 and they went through players they were wishing to add. It almost feels like our summer spending is over now, but I guess thats not the case. Whoever comes in now would add a nice bit of depth to our defense (presumably)

Alberto2005
2 signings would be more than enough, right back and anther centre back who could possibly play left back would be great.

Guest mobiius
alves would be a good signing but he has already said he is keen on chelski interesting to see where that would leave us if the blues don't end up getting him. i wonder if CM and BSA have mentioned him in there regular chats? His agent has apparently left the door open for liverpool if it doesn't workout with chelski so would big mike cough up £20million for a right back if he would consider moving from sevilla to SJP. greydos
4 players needed for me: RB, CB/LB, DM and creative AM. Squad would then be virtually complete. All we'd need at a stretch would be another RW.
