If we'd signed Baines/Shorey, there would be none of this, but because a) the Enrique deal was not made a huge deal of and b) no-one had really heard of him anyway, we still tick the "Do they need a left back? Yeah probably, stick their name down, let's go down the pub" box that all football rumour mills operate on, hence we're still "linked" with Shorey and whoever else the rumour sites pick out of World Football magazine. Bar a complete twist of events, within 48 hours Newcastle will announce the signing of the "hero of Paris" and Belletti, who will be very sad to do so, will abandon Barcelona.
