  1. we were supposed to be aiming for maximum points LAST season an' 'aall
  2. Over the last 10 years the number of points required for automatic promotion (I couldn't face the idea of play-offs ) has varied from 79 to 92; in eight of the years 86+ has been required IF we can win every home came that gives us 69 points - so thats another 17 points from 23 games (=pretty much our form home & away this year TBH) That looks like a hell of a target.................... :dave:
  3. Hah! We all know he traded sexual favours for first place.....................
  4. Exactly - every one of them will be out to beat us = a cup tie every game The Championship is damn hard to get out off - you need to win SND score a load of goals - which sounds like us no?

    Steve Coppell

Copell has looked knackered this season - he wanted to resign last summer but was talked out of it - he reckons he needs a big break Coming to the Hammer House of Horror on Tyneside is probably not what he was thinking off............................
  6. I reckon a lot of clubs will have their biggest gate of the season against us - but hardly any of those clubs run anywhere near full the main problem is that some of the grounds are really small and our allocation will be small as well
  7. just keep yer gob shut - one word and the stewards will descend in force and sling you in the street
  8. Wise - bloody Dennis Wise says it all Can ANYONE tell me what he was supposed to do other than unsettle everyone??
  9. Ashley bought (his choice remember) in to the situation - it wasn't pretty but neither was it hopeless - and we were 12th at the half way point but his lack of ideas, his appalling management of people, the lack of cash in the transfer window make him a complete disaster IMHO The worst owner we've had in my 50 years watching this lot

    Howard Webb

aye - and the fact we've played blinding top class football that has been the talk of Yurop has been held against us by EVERY ref we've had this season eh?
  11. agreed - no width, no invention, little pace, zero motivation =relegation
  12. play 3-3-4 with an overlapping 'keeper
  13. Anything other than Away Goals doesn't really work before it came in any away side in Yurop would pack the team with midfielders and never come out of their half - it was bloody awful Golden Goal sounds good but as time goes on in the game teams become more and more defensive With Away Goals you know what you have to do and if you sit on a 1-0 lead at home like Chelsea did then you know the risks - AND it keeps the opposition playing and attacking right to the end
  14. well over 100 clubs in this country where you can make a living FULL TIME - nowhere else I think that applies of course if there were UK players there then more would go - its always easier if you have a fellow countryman already settled in Plus the language issue - most UK footballers can hardly speak English so the idea of them learning another language.................
  15. All well supported by comparison withe rest of the leagues and in the case of the ourselves and the rabble VERY well supported - but awful owners and dreadful managers all round for far too long
  16. It can be a bugger getting away from Villa by car - and there are very few pubs SOUTH of the ground ie across the park and towards the City Centre
  17. there were some dreadful mid fields in the 70's but this lot are well in the running - it's the absolute lack of creativity and ideas that stuns you
  18. "springboard for success" what success? we've won nowt since the Fairs Cup
  19. It's coming on again............. 1961 1978 1989 another bunch of no-hoppers heading down the tubes again any player of skill sold and a bunch of old has beens who are so injured they can't even make the starting whistle I feel genuinely ill :suicide:
  20. three match bounce that may just be enough but until we get rid of the owner it'll be the same again next season
  21. "Rooney's got 47 caps because he's England's best forward and has been for a good few years now Beckham's got so many because he was a world class player for a good 10 years, and even now can still do a bit part job." years when we've won absolutely nowt of course
  22. no stadium should be named after a commercial product - full stop Lets face it - the great stadiums are almost all called by the name of where they are............
  23. regretfully I think you're spot on HTT

    Financial meltdown?

Ashley bought at the top of the market for both football clubs and his core business When the economy started to slide he prioritised his business and tried to ckeep costs under control at SJP the the KK affair and all the abuse happened and he couldn't come near the place so why would he pour in cash he probably hoped he could get out square but now he's trapped - no-one wnats to buy at anything like the price he paid, the club is sliding and he hasn't any idea what to do we're buggered for quite a while - until someone gets rid of ALL the dross and can rebuild a winning team from kids, cheap players and ones on loan
  25. didn't those companies FOUND the respective clubs???
