what we need now are players who are good enough to play in the bottom half of the PL as well as the Championship - Chopra doesn't hack it IMHO
-
Its the classic English answer to a problem - if in doubt appoint a guy who was a good player but who has bugger all experience of coaching All the top teams in the PL and yurop are managed by experienced managers who learn't their trade the hard way, not someone fresh off the pitch You need to start near the bottom and work up..................
-
I really doubt the defence is up to PL standard - the difference is in both speed of thought and certainty of execution our lot are pretty slow
-
agreed -mind some of the "founder" PL teams have slipped a longggggggggggggg way so there is hope that we'll see ManU in Div £ (trad counting) one day....... it's when you look OUTSIDE the League and see all the teams in things like Blue Square North who were once in the League that you get a surprise 'n aalll

I can't see why anyone would want Hughes - he's achieved very very little TBH even with shed loads of cash...............
-
Would you extend Harewood's loan until the end of the season?
Rob W replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
I'd keep him TBH - at least till the end of the season - Ameobi is often injured -
22 inaugural members of the Premier League were Arsenal, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea, Coventry City, Crystal Palace, Everton, Ipswich Town, Leeds United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Middlesbrough, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, Oldham Athletic, Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, and Wimbledon. That's only 9 survivors................

What about the aussie rules method where the guy putting in stands with his back to the game and hoys it wildly over his shoulder............
-
Probably before most people's time but I can remember him - frustrating sort of player - loads of skill and speed but held on to the ball too long IMHO
-
those numbers are crook - they've added in all the Fraud Squad arrests around the owner
-
aye well, as long as we don't think it will be good enough for the PL - both Reading and Sunderland went up with massive points totals and goals scored and struggled dreadfully once they were up and eventually slipped back down again
-
Capello likes the big guys as they cause problems for international defences - they eat up people like Owen (and Rooney) all day, every day I also suspect he won't take anyone who is not FULLY fit or who has a history of injuries - it just isn't worth it

Newcastle v Swansea, 15:00 Saturday, 28 November 2009 Pre game thread
Rob W replied to Astroblack's topic in Football
Back in the 60's & 70's matches against Swansea used to be real blood baths - I think it goes back to a game there in some competition where the number sent off and carried off was amazing (no subs either) Anyway for a longggggggggg time it was a ground to miss for years -worse than Millwall or Joker Park if you wore B&W stripes -
bit of a delicate subject that mate when you're my age.............
-
aye but you know you can turn him into a fighter when his football days are over - 32 is no age for a boxer......................
-
aye well - I bet John Madejski wishes he'd got out when Reading went up a couple of seasons back................................
-
PS Who will he fight (apart from himself) when he retires?? I can visualise him in a bar in Barry moaning on all day "I could have been a contender...."
-
This is CRAIG BELLAMY we're talking about ?? the one that was at SJP?????
-
all this listing of ex players...... the evidence shows top rate players are s*** managers
-
Jormany, Italy & Brazil............... time after time This time maybe Spain or England as well
-
The main page is months out of date keep the SBR bit and update the rest FFS
-
he was a BIG fan - he always had the results put on a bit of paper and passed to him immediately wherever he was as Even had a mascot IIRC He did say that our continued non success in spite of his prayers said sommat about his standing up top......................
-
It would be crazy to change manager right now Houghton has a bunch of dross playing well - why risk Shearer?
-
Is it time for alcohol laws in football stadia to be relaxed ?
Rob W replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
Until people stop behaving like morons then no relaxation in the drinking rules IMHO At Rugby games half the fans are awash with booze but never any trouble inside or outside the ground. crickeet is getting a bit raucous (especially at Leeds) but can you imagine allowing as much booze as you want at say Millwall, NUFC v the Mackems or similar??? -
we still have a longggggg way to go - we have more games still to play than the whole of last season............
