You missed one of THE great Euro goals. So good they're not allowed to replay it ever again. Shame Yorkie!
-
At the time I thought it was offside as well!
-
Indeed, it's very contentious, I'm 50/50 about it myself. The main thing is that attackers can be 'active' or not, defenders are always active.
-
"A player leaving the field of play because of his momentum during play, is not deemed to have left without the Referee's permission and can therefore re-enter without the Referee's permission. In this instance, although the defender is off the field of play, (and until he returns to the field of play), he should be deemed to be standing on the goal-line (in the field of play) when considering offside. The Assistant Referee should stand in line with the last opponent on the field of play (which in this case will probably be the defending goalkeeper). When deciding offside in this scenario, the two last defending opponents are the defender who has travelled off the field of play, and the defending player who is nearest to the goal line on the field of play (which in all probability will be the goalkeeper)."

Howay man, it was excellent!

Opening games of tournaments are usually pretty shite. Hopefully the game tonight will be good. France were dire though.
-
Good shout.
-
First one was a handball, second one wasn't IMO.
-
I don't care about it either, however hard I try. I can't bring myself to like players I usually hate.
-
Nope, as long as you don't stop your run altogether its allowed.
-
Clear red card that, what was Drogba doing? He knew the consequences.
-
It's the dressing room. The away dressing room is quite a bit smaller than the home one.
-
And then 'I know its probably not funny to laugh'
-
It's all compiled by the 'match delegate' who is usually an ex-player! Some bizarre anomolies in there, no idea how Chelsea aren't bottom!
-
Goals scored I would assume All 0-0s. Then what? There'd be a 20 way playoff! God knows how that would work. Probably by replaying every game again!
-
I remember once during one of our UEFA Cup seasons we had to play Sun-Tues-Thurs-Sun. Part of the deal of getting far in cup competitions surely?
-
He may have been joking, my natural levels of LawroTolerance are very low though.
-
Mark lawrenson is such an idiot. It doesn't matter if it's a red shirt it's so other players don't get infections from his blood you idiot!
-
It hasn't, only now every game has fifteen cameras to take apart every single decision. I'm going to do a big reply to this when I have time, but it's not an easy situation.
-
The solutions are always the difficult bit!

Spoke to a physio friend of mine who says that the main reason Eduardo got injured so badly was that his foot was wedged flat against the ground when there was impact. If his foot had been balanced in the 'normal' playing way it may not have been as bad.
-
The Taylor one wasn't, he went in with the studs at 90' to the ground, that tackle is shocking. I am aware of that, however there is no way we should be banning people based on injuries, seeing as there is a fairly loose correlation between the level of injury and the quality of the tackle.
-
shut up mate have you seen the tackle ffs? a yellow at very best You really don't have a clue. Any tackle that causes serious injury always equals a straight red. The whole purpose of red cards in the first place was to keep all challenges safe. With that kind of injury, Taylor would have been off even if he had tackled from the front and got the ball. When injuries are concerned, top flight players should be culpable for their actions on the pitch - they are paid well enough. Not true at all. Plenty of injuries are caused by totally legitimate tackles.
-
In my experience the injury is usually totally unrelated to the tackle. Most sports physios will tell you that the fall and position of the leg is a key aspect in it as well. I think it's a red card but an injury doesn't neccessarily equal a bad tackle.

Thank you for your email. First of all may I send you a link to our website story concerning the proposal to create a new international round of fixtures, just to ensure you have the correct information to hand. Read the article. (http://www.c-f-1.com/d.aspx?e=Nzg3MTg4MzM1&c=1&linkID=594358) I can appreciate that from a fan's perspective any suggestion of additional fixtures may cause an immediate response in terms of how it will affect existing competitions, indeed fixture scheduling is an important issue and one that has been identified by the Premier League as critical in progressing the proposal. However, this is a very interesting and exciting idea which if structured correctly will have great benefits for football and its communities. Having said this, you can be certain that before any firm decisions are made, the Premier League and its clubs will examine all facets of the proposition to ensure that the integrity of the league and the interests of its fans are taken into consideration. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write to us with your views, when appropriate the club will add further comment on our website. Kind regards, Simon Esland Head of Customer Operations
