Midfielders are pointless in this team. The ball goes over their heads most of the game, or they struggle to find passing options when they do get the ball. There was a graphic posted on here the other day showing where teams do the most defending. Unsurprisingly we are the only team in the whole league to do "very little" defending in the whole of the midfield area. We don't really own any midfield players who are capable of competing in the premier league, certainly not against anyone decent. I genuinely don't think it's down to the players we have. Norwich compete and use the ball infinitely better than we do, and you cannot convince me they have a better set of central midfielders. It’s not JUST down to the players we have, Rafa showed that. But our midfielders wouldn’t get in Norwich’s 11 Hmmm ... okay. Would they get into Oxford's then? If so, why were they dominating us? That’s not the point I made, hence the comment about Rafa.

We did see it, that's why he's on a pay as you play contract. Ashley probably figured if he can make an impact in 10 games, it would be enough to keep us up. Only problem with that of course, is it heaps the pressure on Joelinton who has to start every match because all the other strikers are crocks. Nope, he's on a salary (quite a high one) subsidised when he plays. This pay-as-you-play contract for him is overplayed. He's still one of the highest earners at the club, whether he plays or not.

I'm exactly the same, well put. I can't even enter fantasy leagues now, and office football chat for me now consists of "Liverpool looking good". Used to spend hours chatting about football, reading about it, playing FM, Fifa, watching videos of it. Just lost interest now.
