  1. I was actually waiting for that. Didn't think it'd be first post though The peabrains always dive in without thinking. Easier to mock than discuss, ergo..... Is it actually a serious discussion?
  2. On the other hand, Spurs might sign players left right and centre and then get relegated. Splashing the cash doesn't mean survival. They also don't have a complete joke of a man for manager for the foreseeable future Debateable
  3. Ask yourself that about every single quote he gives the papers.
  4. So people are still blaming all of this s*** on Shearer? Jesus christ, nobody even mentions him anymore. Man United still sing songs about Roy Keane. Is it killing their club? Get a grip! Are Roy Keane or Cantona or Solksjaer ever mentioned in line with the man united job when fergie hints at retirement? Are they fuck. Shearer is, and its fucking embarrasing. Until he has a little stint here, and fails, we can never truely be rid of it. So we've got Kinnear because people are worried that fans want Shearer? Absolute rubbish.
  5. Maybe they've taken out a contract on him, and he miss-heard?
  6. I defended Ashley vehemently for so long that being let down feels much worse. Couple that with paying for the three years of ST money up front on the basis of the euphoria and promise of Keegan coming back and I feel like a proper mug tbh. I don't disagree with you, and I'd feel a lot worse if I'd bought a season ticket too. I sometimes forget how much some of you invest in the club. I'll go back to moaning about Scunny United for a bit instead

  9. I reckon our fans could help out on the pitch tbh. Pretty sure at least one of them will be better than Nicky Butt.
  10. Aye, it's weird. If we really wanted him why not just do it properly last time? It's not as if his stock has risen since the end of November. Has ours dropped a lot lower though? Potentially, aye. Well if it's true, I'm jumping on your bandwagon. I have one? Let's just say I noticed a big change in your style of posts when Kinnear was appointed
  11. wigan signed him 1 year ago for £770,000. steve bruce Arsene Wenger knows how to find a bargain. I never did understand that story. Why did Wenger recommend a player to Birmingham?

  14. I honestly don't see the point of offering him a new contract before seeing how he does this season. It's nonsense.
  15. f***ing hell, what a mentalist beats me why so many people read the s**** that she puts out, never mind the rag full stop I bet you were enjoying it until you got to this bit though: I do remember some people claiming that Phil Gartside was a good chairman. Don't really know where they got the idea from, probably on account of the fact that Allardyce did a great job at Bolton, who then promoted Sammy Lee, like lots of other chairman who appoint number 2's into the number 1. When was the last time we promoted a number 2 to a number 1? I'm failing to see if you're meaning it's positive or negative tbh. why do you want to know when we last promoted a number 2 ? I'm pointing out that, according to many people, you don't appoint number 2's, yet supposedly good chairman elsewhere have promoted number 2's to the manager's job ? Lots of them have, in fact, and some of them have also been very successful. At the time, I thought giving Roeder a crack had some merit. It seems now that Shearer was a good number 2 to Roeder, and very influential. But thats just hindsight and speculation, although hindsight views suit some people who can't state a judgement. So it didn't work out for him, and correctly for NUFC having ambitions much higher than mid table positions, they decided they wanted better, unlike Ashley and also unlike their predecessors. roeder wasn't our no.2 but he did continue the rot that started with souness. 7th in the league. A position gained only twice in over 30 years prior to 1992. You consider that failure ? It confirms everything I've said about ambition and expectation. Well it was 2 places lower than we DESERVED to be, according to you. He wasn't a number 2 either, which is why I asked who you meant? Ok, he wasn't number 2, but he had been caretaker manager before doing well and getting the permanent role ? Very very few people on here wanted him appointed as manager though, so you can hardly claim it was hindsight. wanted him as first choice ? Of course not, how many first choice managers do you appoint, I wouldn't even expect Ashley to appoint Wenger or Ferguson, but they were happy to go with it and thought he might have done it, including me which I will admit I said it was worth a crack. To say otherwise now after the event is what I mean by hindsight. But he did well at first, with Shearer alongside him, and that is why he was considered because he certainly wouldn't have been if he hadn't done well, thats obvious isn't it ? My earlier comments are true BTW. Gartside was praised by many people for some reason, as being better than Shepherd [who wasn't, what do they think now ?]. Then Shepherd appointed Gartsides manager - Shepherd was criticised for appointing a caretaker to the full job, then Gartside went and did exactly the same thing - you couldn't make up such stuff. Laughable. Personality driven agendas. Laughable. Does your information on what people wanted come from other places, as I can't remember any of what you're claiming. Are you just commenting on what you hear down the pub? Serious question by the way, because the majority of people on here were gutted when Roeder was appointed. And who has ever mentioned Gartside on here other than you? old server , old server. As you know. Might even have been you that said Gartside was "better than Fred" tbh, I did have one or two debates with you about the merits of the fat bastard, but won't say for certain as I can't prove it ......... but now that you are here, do you now think that the old fat bastard was much better than the new fat bastard, based on results rather than personal agendas you understand ? Honest answer? I honestly don't know. The club was going backwards, and it's still going backwards. Whether there's actually anyone out there capable of getting us to go forwards again, I don't know. I don't agree with Ashley's policy of not spending, but I also didn't agree with Fred's policy of spending money which we didn't have. You're basically asking me to choose between aids and cancer. I've never mentioned Gartside in any conversation on this board until this thread by the way.
  16. A player who will never come back to England. Great plan. Impressive that you answer back after i've already posted that the deal is dead. Anyway.... Craig Bellamy looks set to leave West Ham after angrily storming out of the club's Chadwell Heath training ground. In a move that will push the Wales international closer to the exit door at Upton Park, he told officials that he wanted to discuss a possible £12million move to Tottenham, and, when permission was denied, he reacted in fury. It would seem unlikely that he will now play in Sundays match at home to Fulham after not taking part in Friday's training session. Both Spurs and Manchester City have had bids of £12m turned down for the 29 year old and, outwardly, the Hammers are still insisting that he is not for sale. But the fact that Bellamy has said he wants out should ensure that Redknapp gets his man. Yeah sorry, I was reading the page from the top rather than the bottom Bellamy's been at West Ham longer than 10 minutes, so it's about time he changed clubs tbh

  18. It's the same EVERY SINGLE JANUARY WINDOW Calm down people. It's more than likely that we'll sign nobody of any note, but we can't complain that deals haven't been completed at a time where they never are.
  19. Stay positive lads. We might not sign anyone, but we're clearly trying

  21. Not a dig at you personally Wullie, but why don't you see it as paying 2 grand to support the club, rather than to fill Ashley's coffers? At the end of the day isn't that the whole point? I wish I lived in the UK to follow the team around, but life isn't that simple. The money should be supporting the club but it isn't. It's paying for one tiny fraction of Mike's casino chips on any given night. I don't give a shit about people supporting the club from far and wide, good on them. I do however have a problem with them calling me a retard because I haven't the first interest in hearing more of Mike Ashley's lies. Very easy to say when you don't sit through humiliation every week at St James' and don't pay good money to have the piss taken out of you. Your money goes to pay Duff's wages
