Ashley was lambasted for not investing heavily. Pretty certain he did exactly what you've just asked for, until the Wise/Keegan situation. I'm pretty sure Ashley didn't do any of what I asked; run the club sensibly (allowed wage bill to bloat further and then refuse transfers - not that sensible) and with ambition (def not). A small amount of speculation (made a profit on transfers...nope, no speculation) and cut the dead wood (brought more in than he's shipped out). Get in a manager who you trust (didn't do that) and back them (def not). So it's easy to get rid of overpaid players who nobody else would want, whilst at the same time bringing in better players without overspending? I can't believe people actually think it will be easy for a new owner to turn us back into a force without hevaily investing. Didn't say it was "easy" to turn us into a force, all I was showing in my above post was that Ashley had done everything wrong. The first sentance in your post is to do with (what I described as) getting a manager you trust, backing them within reason and speculating a bit - our starting platform wasn't that bad when Ashley took over and had he done any of these things we'd be in a significantly better position than we are now, and probably better than the lower mid table we were when he started. We were 9 points worse off under Ashley, even with all of the Keegan crap. I'm by no means a supporter of Ashley, but I honestly think people are going way over the top when they say that running the club would be easy. The club was in an appauling state when Ashley took over, he's just carried it going on in the same direction rather than turning it around. I fear that anyone coming in without serious money is going to struggle too.

The punishment for missing a drugs test MUST be harsher than failing a test Otherwise you can get smacked out of your tits on whatever you choose then simply not turn up for a test and get a smaller ban than if you actually turn up and fail the test Therefore Rio didn't have anything to hide Common sense really Not at all. Would Rio want to be known as a drug taker, and probably rule himself out of ever playing for Man United and England again. There are certain facts about Rio which can't be put on the message board, which involve another player who used to play for Boro.

The midfield was the reason we were relegated last season. Best outside the top 6??

if Ameobi had played like that he'd be slated for not scoring.

This is Newcastle-Online, if we had Buffon in goal and Torres upfront people would still moan about them! If Nicky Butt is playing, it wouldn't matter who is up front tbh.

Jose Enrique out for at least three weeks with hamstring injury

You can't have watched much of NUFC over the last few years then. I have & attended during the late 70's so I have seen plenty of s***. For a player who has so many strengths his crossing almost defies belief. Jonas' delivery is poor but whereas he may misplace his cross by a few feet Jose usually misses by at least 10 feet. We've scored from an Enrique cross before though, which is more than you can say for Jonas. Nolan at Palace? Pass more than a cross tbh -
Spurs top 5 this season tbh Mental overreactions everytime spurs have a good start tbh. They either start well or end well, never both. When was there last good start, when they had a good squad?

September, October, November... almost fills us till January. May as well wait a month given the international break and the fact that our squad is fairly OK depth wise. You have to prove it's an emergency loan. You can't just go "It's an emergency" and they'll turn around and go "Oh ok, go ahead" I think we'll qualify tbh.

Did you expect us to spend a few million? You sound really depressed. The best news is that nobody else has left!

Oh behave will ya. Name a better one then? West Ham went down with a better team but they all left. We've managed to keep a team of Premiership quality players together. Not a squad admittedly but the youngsters and loan signings from the Premier league, plus one or two more in today will more than make up the numbers. The last time we won the league the squad/team was a mile better than this one is. -
By random spackers? Beckford thinks he's staying at Leeds. They've not told him about any bids (if there even are any). Leeds are trying to sign another striker today though. Linked with Paul Heffernan if he doesn't end up at Barnsley.

Any butties been ordered yet?

On the other hand, players like Smith are just as important when bringing the younger players through. We've needed to get rid of Butt and Geremi for two years now. -

Smith has been real quality this season. Exactly what we need in there.
