  1. Got all excited there as I thought I was in the Remy thread.
  2. Get in Stoke, just made me £25.
  3. We spent the entirety of the summer thinking 'at least we're replacing Simpson at last'. Yet he's still there. Even with our track record I would have staked a fair wager on us bringing in two defenders in the summer. Who knows what we'll come up with in January, you can't use logic or common sense to predict what we'll do.
  4. I remember Chris Marsden scoring an absolute belter towards the end of his career, one of those goals that would be on every compilation if it had been scored by Bergkamp or Shearer. Bit like Rob Lee vs Coventry, or Callum Davidson for Blackburn.

    Loïc Remy

I don't think he'll get £90k anywhere in England, maybe QPR if they go completely mental. And they'd have to deal with another release clause as it seems to be their modus operandi.

Does anyone on here understand the concept of compound interest? I'm off to buy some Wonga shares.

It's not 7% though, because you are paying that over 3 monthly instalments. The effective annual rate would be (by my calculations, anyway) more like 55%.

It's quite terrifying to think that for some people, the decision of 'how am I going to pay for this' comes AFTER the purchase.

    Season Tickets

Don't you finish paying for next season's ticket by March? If you signed up to the 10-year deal then I think you've nearly paid up for next year.
  10. It was terrible seeing Wimbledon FC torn from their spiritual home of Crystal Palace's ground.
  11. Because it's virtually impossible to call when you're on the move with the ball coming into the box, bouncing out then being fired back in again. It's stupid that it's taken so long to get the technology in when it's impossible for a linesman to be both in line with the play and the goal line at the same time.
  12. What a spectacular tosser this Herbert feller is.
  13. I meant to type 'not having' obvoiusly. Yeah, plenty of examples, Wraith is good one, who was that guy who was head of the independent NUFC supporters trust and kept being quoted in the media about 10 years after it was binned? I'm just staggered at the column inches this guy is getting.
  14. This feller sounds like a typical media whore, claiming to represent people but actually having any credibility. I'm amazed the BBC are running this.
  15. It's impossible to call that offside because there is no way the linesman could have kept in line with play there. Of course, technology told us within 10 seconds.

Yep, we entered into a JV with MGM to apply for the UK supercasino license, which was awarded to Manchester and was then cancelled. Developing the site would be a bit of a pain due to the need to redirect the roads but it's certainly doable. The metro station isn't an issue, that was just something reeled out by the club in the 90s as a bit of an excuse.
  17. It's all the usual massive over-reaction from the powers that be. Hopefully we have minimal issues with people being cunts and we can (again) prove the local bill to have been completely in the wrong. I've been in Bruges this week (having booked a trip before the draw was made) and it's an absolutely stunning place.
  18. £20 on Hudderfield to win at Birmingham at odds of 3.65. Happy days.

We're both talking about the guy who made the £135m purchase of a football club on a whim without carrying out due diligence, yeah? That more than likely translates into opportunism and acting very quickly to push a deal home. Ashley saw his window of opportunity and went for it. Say what you like about Ashley and the way he acquired Newcastle but to dismiss him as anything other than a "smart business man" is quite silly. The original post says he doesn't throw money away in any situation. When clearly he has done several times, one of which was when buying NUFC, having been fuelled by his cash windfall after the Sports Direct IPO.

As the sole owner, the fact there is a loan on our books is utterly irrelevant and he can take whatever money is knocking around whenever he wants. However it has proved to be a useful PR device for expectations management.

I used to have a pair of Sondico gloves with neoprene palms. Horrible things, made your hands smell like piss.

Well, I wouldn't worry too much about that, it has about 90 years to run.
