He underwent emergency neurosurgery, I think it's fair to say earlier this evening he was fighting for his life. It now appears he is in a stable condition.

Doubt they would have taken him where they did if it wasn't serious given other A&E hospitals much closer to the ground.

He's been taken the the acute trauma unit at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, rather than other hospitals closer to the ground, which suggests it might be serious.
