We done our bit tbh. Sold out our allocation and all the noise was comming from our section. I know you sold your allocation, Spurs away support is nearly always good. Atmosphere was still poor though even if most of the singing was coming from your end. I would have thought that if Arsenal bandwagon fans didn't want to go tonight that Spurs fans would have snapped up the tickets with it being 10mins down the road and a big game but there were rows upon rows of empty seats in the top tier. It really is strange as it was near enough a sell out when we played them in the League Cup. I presume they didn't drop the prices for this one.

to be fair thats probly the ingredients for a away win! After Gullit, Steve Clarke took control of the team and we lost 5-1 at Old Trafford.

Yes. SSN said earlier that they 'understand' the manager we are after is British and that we will go through the 'proper channels'.

Oops...beaten to it! That article is wrong. Taylor is not out of contract at the end of the season.
-
Apparently Spurs made an offer for Taylor which we rejected.

Barton therapist tells Newcastle not to expect speedy return Louise 'Mackem Slag' Taylor Tuesday January 8, 2008 The Guardian Any hopes Sam Allardyce may have harboured of welcoming Joey Barton back to his squad in the immediate future appear to have been dashed. Peter Kay, the therapist treating the Newcastle United midfielder for behavioural problems at the Sporting Chance Clinic in Hampshire, has said Barton will not kick a ball for Allardyce's team until after his next court hearing in Liverpool a week tomorrow. Barton was released from prison, where he had been remanded after being charged with assault after a night out in Liverpool, and was immediately taken to the Sporting Chance clinic. "Until the 16th of January, Joey will be with me 24 hours a day," said Kay. "As for him playing, it will not be happening in the near future. There are bail guidelines we are adhering to and we're concentrating on the work we need to do, which is going well." Although Allardyce has talked about the need to keep his player "fit" and Newcastle's lawyers have been exploring ways of enabling him to play or just train while adhering to bail conditions, Kay said that football was not Barton's current priority. "We do not play keepy-uppy in the garden; we do work of a different nature," he said. "We are getting on with the work we need to do, which is separate from football, and I could not hope for anything better than what is happening." Newcastle demonstrated their need for midfield dynamism at Stoke City as they were held to a 0-0 draw in an FA Cup third-round tie, which will be replayed next week. Should Allardyce's side prevail they will visit Arsenal in the fourth round but Shay Given admits that a Newcastle replay win is far from a foregone conclusion."The main thing was to avoid defeat," said the club's Ireland goalkeeper. "But the tie is not over yet." Allardyce yesterday completed the signing of Ben Tozer, a 17-year-old defender from Swindon Town who has agreed a 4½-year contract at Newcastle. He is likely to be loaned back to a League One club for the rest of the season to gain experience. http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2237068,00.html?gusrc=rss&feed=7

Stoke (a) in the FA Cup - Pre-Match thread

A doubt, not out... yet. -
I saw him play in a pre season game up at Celtic before his big injury and looked like a great prospect. I agree that he is nowhere near as bad as many on here seem to think, I've also met his entire family and they were all canny, albeit I was so pissed I could hardly stand up after Shearer's testimonial!

nothing other than conservative unambitious claptrap from start to finish We'll spend more in this window than we did in the last January transfer window under the previous board. Will we buy a player of the calibre of Woodgate, beating off our rivals and paying the money, and will we match those Champions League qualifications in the long run ? In this window, I doubt it. In future transfer windows, quite possibly. Too early to say about CL qualification but it's more than possible. So what exactly are you trying to say in your previous post ? Not to jump to conclusions based on speculation about this transfer window and their very short tenure so far. 'Conservative' 'Unambitious', utter bollocks.

Really? I thought he looked quality. Comfortable on the ball and strong in defence. I know it was only half an hour or so but certainly didn't look out of place for me. Looked decent to me, gave it away cheaply near their box when we were attacking once but apart from that I thought he did very little wrong.
