  1. I would like to see Milner in the middle of the park as his lack of pace limits him when out on the wing.  Though saying that if we manage to get 8-10 million for him we should bite the hands of such a bid..

  2. So, let's look at the facts:

    1. McGeady has just signed a new 5 year contract

    2. KK has yesterday commented on how well Zoggy is doing and how he's happy to have him stay

    3. Zoggy is already probably earning twice what Celtic could pay

Result: OMG!! KEVIN KEEGAN has offered £5million plus Charles NZogbia for Celtics Aiden McGeady!

    Idiots.

How much do you think N'Zogbia is getting a week?

  3. Some guy called scotish mag on the nufcblog (I know the majority who writes on that page comes up with rubbish stories) claims that Jimenez's trip to Dubai is to discuss a move for Aimar.

Feck all to do with me lol

  4. At 27 he had been pretty much unheard of before the season just gone, now he has played very well in a poor Russian side, he has stood out but has he stood out enough?

You think that is a poor Russian side?

  5. Why the f*** would he turn down Stoke and go to West Brom? £1.5m pissed up the wall because of that idiot.

Probably because they are a better team...

    2 points better.

Anyway he said it was because he didnt want to move to the midlands didnt he?

They play better football and have better resources.  Stoke just punt the ball up to the forwards after having seen the success Souness and Allardyce had with that tactic I'm sure Shola would rather play for Mowbrays side who actually knock the ball about.

  6. From my local paper the Helensburgh Advertiser...

    Caples Toon Army

Ardencaple FC could soon help to establish a satellite centre for English Premiership giants Newcasrle United FC.

The Geordie side is considersing expanding its professional youth set up around Great Britain and have turned to the Caple club to facilitate a base in West Central Scotland.

Caple already has a well established relationship with the Magpies - whose multi million pound squad boasts players like Michael Owen and Mark Viduka - having visited the club earlier this year.

The Caple players recieved training sessions from the Newcastle youth coaches before playing a bounce match against a select side.

Newcastle chiefs were impressed with the Caple club who were one of the first to be awarded the highly prestigious SFA Standard Quality Mark.

*Helensburgh is a small town in the West Coast of Scotland on the Firth of the Clyde and close to Loch Lomond*

  7. NEWCASTLE United are hopeful of sparking a bidding war for striker Shola Ameobi this summer, but the player’s agent has denied that a £4m bid from Championship club Ipswich Town has been accepted.

Ameobi returned to St James’s Park at the end of the season after enjoying mixed fortunes during a loan spell at Stoke and his hopes of resurrecting his United career appear slim – paving the way for a number of ambitious second-tier clubs to make their move for the former England Under-21 front man.

Newcastle are hopeful of receiving a figure approaching the £4m that they had negotiated with Stoke for Ameobi’s transfer to the Britannia Stadium before that move broke down amid doubts from both parties about how easily the striker would fit into the Potters’ style of play.

And, while there is clearly interest in the forward from a number of clubs reports yesterday that claimed that Ipswich have agreed a £4m fee have been dismissed by Ameobi’s agent Steven Denos as “speculation”.

There has been no official comment from Ipswich but sources in East Anglia have indicated that although the club made a tentative enquiry to United a fortnight ago regarding a fee for the forward they are yet to follow up their interest.

And that view of events was backed up by Ameobi’s representative Denos, who told The Journal that Newcastle are yet to receive an acceptable offer for the Nigeria-born striker.

“It’s speculation,” he said. “As far as I’m concerned Ipswich have not put a bid in for Shola. There has certainly been no dialogue from Newcastle to me to the effect that a bid has been submitted from any club at this stage.

“Our position is that we will be willing to talk to any club that puts a bid in to Newcastle that is acceptable.”

What is clear is that Ameobi is attracting the interest of a number of clubs, with East Anglian rivals Ipswich and Norwich both weighing up a bid.

There has also been interest from the John Carver-coached MLS club Toronto FC but Ameobi is not interested in a move to North America and is believed to favour staying in England – even if it means dropping down a division.

Norwich manager Glenn Roeder has already confirmed his interest in a player he worked with during his time at United but his resources are dwarfed by rivals Ipswich, who have benefited from a sizeable cash injection from businessman Marcus Evans.

Ipswich’s current wage structure may be a problem, however, with the club unwilling to go above the £10,000-a-week mark – a figure below the basic salary that Ameobi is on at St James’s Park.

The situation may be complicated further if Middlesbrough decide to follow up their interest in the striker, with the promise of further Premier League football sure to appeal to a player who first broke into the team during Bobby Robson’s time as manager.

Denos has reiterated that he and his player would be willing to talk to any club if they had a bid accepted.

“One thing for certain is that Newcastle would want a hefty transfer fee for him,” he said.

“He’s not going to MLS. We’ve had no contact from Middlesbrough and no offer in from Norwich City.”

  8. If you paid up front for this season be prepared to find out that on your application there is no option of the paying up front with a 10% reduction (even though there is a flyer about it)

So anyone who bailed them out last season when they were desperate to get some pennies in the bank doesn't get the option of saving themselves £150+ now...idiots!

I paid up front for next season (already avoiding the increase, and getting cup games for nowt), and got the opportunity to buy the next two and save 10%.

I only have an option of paying £988 on a 2 year prize freeze extension payment plan.  No option for a discounted one off payment??

I thought the price freeze was the discount. The price difference is about 10%

The price freeze is for the 3 year plan, but should be a further 10% if you are willing to pay the lump sum so should be £888

    As Crumpy posted earlier...

3 YEAR PRICE FREEZE -Single Payment £1334 (£444)

3 YEAR PRICE FREEZE - Payment Plan £1482 (£494 - same as last season)

    08/09 Season Ticket £543

  11. If that is our squad for next year it looks like its going to be another long hard season tbh

Why, who else do you think we should replace? I don't think looking to replace a third of the outfield players is undercooking things, really. Seems realistic to me.

Dave I am not disputing that it won't be the case I am just of the opinion that its a pretty average squad and that only 3 additions to it, especially some of those who have been linked, will not make a major difference.

I am not expecting to see an overhaul nor do I see it as a realistic option just pointing out how shit I think the majority of our team are.

  12. Harper

    Given

    (Krul/Forster)

    Enrique

    New cover (youngster)

    (N'Zogbia)

    Faye

    Taylor

    Edgar

    New cover (youngster)

    Beye

    New cover (youngster)

    (Taylor/Edgar)

    New first-teamer

    N'Zogbia

    (Barton/LuaLua)

    Butt

    Geremi

    (Barton/LuaLua)

    New first-teamer

    Milner

    Geremi

    (Barton/LuaLua)

    Owen

    Martins

    New first-teamer

    Viduka

    Carroll

And as Keefaz says, it wouldn't surprise me if Duff and Smith are still here. Though hopefully not involved too much... ;)

So that's the three first-teamers (maybe four if Butt is to be replaced) and a few youngsters/understudies.

If that is our squad for next year it looks like its going to be another long hard season tbh

  13. It's quite normal to pay more when it's spread over a payment period. Even when it says INTEREST FREE in capital letters you still pay more for it.

It's quite normal when you're not talking about football, iyam.

What does your second sentence mean btw? If a sofa costs £700 and you pay it in 24 interest free monthly payments of £25 plus a £100 deposit, how have you paid more? You've paid £700 regardless of whether it's in one hit or over two years.

I don't think they are putting it as us getting charged more but advertising it as a discount if you pay the lump sum.  Thats what they said on the site when they announced the news anyhoo...
