Were his Decembers at previous clubs balls too? Incredibly we also had poor Decembers before Pardew too Probably our best month in the relegation season with wins over Portsmouth and Spurs.

I think we've had a rotten December in every season Pardew has been our manager. Will be interesting to see whether he can ever master fixture congestion.

Got a recording on my phone of a mackem mate on Total Sport saying he was "cautiously optimistic" on the eve of the season. Him and Marco go on to discuss all their new signings and that for once the club is going in a "clear direction", especially with Di Fanti in charge of recruitment. It's all gold.
