I disagree. I think the purchase of Coloccini has been the most influential. Bringing in an Argentina international central defender for big bucks showed that we were willing to spend the money if the player was right for us. We needed an experienced head back there, and to have him in the shape of the relatively young quality player that he is has had more influence on the team imo. Coloccini's been very good since joining, and its between him and Bassong for player of the season so far. Hasn't missed a game, and knows what he's doing. Could still do better though mind.

and not allowed deniss wise to interfere with Keegan,....allowed keegan to buy his own players,...etc,.etc That was all implied. yeah. i thought so, but i just cant stop myself saying it at every possible opportunity.

Hardley any truth in this story imo, why would Real Madrid want to sign Pennant? graverson and diarra? its so unbelieveable it could be true. I don't really understand the piss-taking re Diarra! He's a top class player, and is well on his way to becoming one of the world's best midfield players!

Taylor's never ever looked this good in the shirt tbh. Correct. Taylor's best ever performances in all his years in the first team haven't been as good as Bassong's best. The frenchman LOOKS a completely different player. A level above. I put that down to having a better understanding of the game at such a young age.

No it wouldn't. Would also stretch our unbeaten run to 7 games, which imo is quite creditable. -
Reading Owen's, Kinnear's, and other players' comments lately, I'm glad to see a slight change in tone to a positive one. Rather than talk about staying up this season (or namely surviving relegation), they are talking about "progressing this season", and "ending the season on a high". I hope that Kinnear realizes that we can finish in the top 6 as much as we can get relegated, and that he has set his and the squad's sights on quietly and confidently climbing up the table to shock all and sundry by finishing in the top 8 or so. It would be a perfect "up yours" to the London media. Obviously we are not safe yet. But I'm glad that Kinnear and co. are on the positive side of things and realize that we have the squad to easily finish in the top half.

He had final say on him when he was over on his trial. But don't let that get in the way of yourself talking s**** or anything. Then you're admitting Keegan had final say on signings and you love Mike Ashley again? Nop. Nice way to twist my words though and ignoring what I posted about that's how a scouting system should work. Sorry. Tbh I didn't read the rest of the thread. Thought that was the last page

THIS! Lots on here saying Owen wasn't up to much. I disagree. I think his movement again was top quality, with the miss being the only time he put a foot wrong. Works incredibly hard taking defenders away and opening up space. With a little more fluidity and creativity behind him in the "hole" area, we would see an absolute deadly Michael Owen. Also....looked quite pacy and fit today! Great to see. Touch wood he stays fit for the rest of the season now.

Have you ever won every game you deserved to win? Have you ever lost every game you deserved to lose? It's quite a daft question to ask in football. Oh and for the record, my honest opinion is that the 2 teams were even second half. We had better possession, shape and game plan, and your lot played the counter quite well. Neither keeper had to make a save. A moment of genius won it right at the death. Sorry like, I absolutely hate the club you support, but have nowt against you personally. Good to see you on here posting after the defeat. Quite sporting of you, and I think it's what football is all about.

Let's keep this thread about potentially our player of the season. Outstanding performance once again from the big man. If the French FA scouts are watching, a call-up won't be too far away now. Yes he's that good.

absolutely loving this!! I fucking hate Tottenham and 99% of their fans with the hottest hell of a hundred thousand suns As has been said, they seem a good crop of lads, and make no mistake, they are talented. Joe has done a fantastic job of at least getting them to play for each other. How sweet it would be to finally win a trophy against all the odds. The FA Cup this season? Stranger things have happened.

Correct. It's also dependent on the player's age, and how badly we need him. Sometimes you look for certain things when you come across a young player, and hope to develop them for the future (e.g. Bassong). You look for different things when you're prepared to pay big bucks for a seasoned pro (e.g. Coloccini). Agreed though HTT, technical ability and character are two of the most vital elements along with understanding of teamwork and football skill application on match day (otherwise known as BOTTLE).

Kinnear may be a nut case, but he's not stupid

Sam Allardyce signs 3-year contract with Blackburn Rovers
WhatTheFunk replied to a topic in Football
Don't agree with that at all. We all know you're very much anti-Ashley, you just seem to be reinforcing that. Not necessarily. I'm somewhat "pro-Ashley" if you want to call it that, yet I agree with Johnny's comments. I think Allardyce got nowhere near enough time here, and would NOT have relegated us. -
good post

Great initiative from the supporters' club. This is more like it. Positive ideas that unite rather than divide people Should become an annual celebration to celebrate the life of this great man.

spot on! Why can't people just listen to or read the stuff, and just shrug it off? It's not like Ashley's quotes in a tabloid are going to make the world of a difference with regards to.....anything really! What's important now is that the club is a) in the PL next season, and b) is sold to ambitious owners as soon as possible. The he said/she said bullshit is exactly that. Bullshit. Walk it off people!
