Longstaff is still on the same contract he was on when he was playing for the reserves. He needed to make one more first team appearance to activate an improved contract but got injured before that kicked in. I'm sure his agent is negotiating improved terms with the club but knowing the way we operate we'll delay and then offer him peanuts. If i was him i'd want out.

When did this happen though?! The city has always been amazing but it used to be rough as fuck in places and there were always plenty of heed the balls about. Where are those unhinged pricks when you actually need them. They were fucking ten a penny when you were minding your own business at a bus stop in broad daylight back in the 90s

He's a huge fan of ginger Jack. Can't wait to link up with him.

I honestly believe that if he had taken over and done this much damage to certain other clubs he'd have been in genuine fear for his and his family's lives right for a good while now. It's absolutely baffling that no one has physically assaulted him or worse in 12 years!! I'm not advocating that sort of thing by the way Admins, I just had a fair few run-ins with the city's radgies as a student and i'm wondering where all the lunatics are now? Inside probably. Can you imagine fans in Italy, South America or Eastern Europe putting up with this? Or even West Ham, Rangers, Millwall - he'd be fucking strung up!!

The British players will be buzzing tbh, the likes of Ritchie might well have been upgraded this season if Rafa was given the money. You can bet your bottom dollar that we won't be seeing any full backs brought in either. Dummett and Yedlin FTW. I honestly don't believe a single one of our players (apart from Colback) will be happier working under Bruce than they were under World-class Rafa Benitez.

NUFC - 2019 Clark is fine, Colback is gash. Clark is the 4th best CB we have. If him starting becomes a trend, it's not fine at all

Just one?!!

OK, my bad! You know there are going to be thousands of fans who actually believe that shit though.... I know, worry is if he picks up a couple of results then you will have all of the sheep gloating how Rafa wasn't all of that and they were right all along.. He might get a few lucky wins but the true measure of a manager is always revealed in the long-run. He'll fail, it's just what he does at this level.

Can't tell if this is a joke or not?! Please tell me what relevance him being a Geordie has when it comes to his likely success as our manager? The most successful managers in the Premier League over the past 20 years have mostly been foreigners. Most of the top players in the Premier League are foreigners. We moved on from the small time 'he knows the area so he'll do well' way of thinking about a decade and a half ago. Does he automatically become a better manager because he was born in the North East? Answer: No, he's still shit. He's just a shit Geordie

Not sure why you seem bothered I'm pleased they've had their pants down over this absolute snake. I'm not bothered at all. I've been as apathetic towards our plight as it's possible to be for a good while now. Doesn't stop me questioning the completely bemusing decisions the set of clowns continue to make.

I really can't get my head around this! There are better (or at least equally crap) journeyman shite managers out there for free, why cough up £4m for Bruce?! It makes absolutely no sense at all. The only thing i can come up with is that he was the only mug prepared to work under the specified conditions.

What a glorious fucking day it would be if the whole thing came crashing down and went into administration.
-
I'll be fucking devastated to see this little waster back in the first team.
-
I've said this before - look at the calibre of manager that Ashley/Charnley have actually approached in the past - Kinnear, Carver, McLaren, Shearer (he's excused from all of this), Pardew We only got Rafa because he approached the club. They're just doing what they've always done.
-
Does no one on this forum remember how badly Ashley fucked Hughton over? Might as well recommend Keegan for a third term while you're at it, i'm sure he'd jump at the chance to be shafted by Ashley again as well.
-
Might as well lock this thread - I don't think there's ever been a more dead-cert for relegation than us this season.
-
Seconded. How has no one mentioned Walkers Sweet Thai Chilli Sensations?! They're the best crisps out there by a mile
-
Hoofbacks from what I hear.
-
I hope they're just making preparations in case the takeover doesn't go through. That's seriously wishful thinking though. I think the minute they appoint anyone who isn't high calibre we have to assume the takeover is off.
-
I'm not sure Bruce would take it - he's in a job already and it's hardly a secret that working for Ashley is basically impossible. Why would he put himself through it? He's nowhere near desperate enough. We need to lower our expectations significantly
-
Preparing for life in the Championship already - bring in promotion specialist Bruce.
-
Especially when Allardyce is available for free
-
Even if the next owners are shit - Ashley level shit - I don't care. I can't imagine they'll be in control for 12 fucking years, so if we need new shit owners to get rid of current shit owners, then we can try new tactics on the new ones, so be it. At least we're moving forwards through owners towards a day when perhaps we have a half decent one. They could be even more inept than Ashley, but I can't imagine anyone being more stubborn. All they'd have to do is maximise our commercial revenue and actually invest the money we generate, and we'd be 100% better off than we are now. Nobody is asking for them to plough hundreds of millions into the playing staff, just spend what we earn and allow us to compete. I imagine most of us would be thrilled at that.

So we're buying Joelinton for £52m and £30m on Strakosha?! Sounds totally legit.
